Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree confirms cabinet has yet to fulfill an April election promise to hire more police and border guards. “I’m not responsible for the hiring,” he told the Commons public safety committee.

The Liberal Party in its re-election platform Canada Strong promised “1,000 new Canada Border Services Agency officers to crack down on drugs” and “1,000 more RCMP personnel to tackle drug and human trafficking.” The promise was reannounced April 10, April 28, June 3 and August 12.

    I think The President said earlier this year that the porous border was one of the reasons a trade deal wasn’t being made between the USA and Canada, one of many issues. Perhaps The President doesn’t need to make trade deals with unserious actors.
