  1. Automating lines as described in the article is not new, Ontario used to do the same thing will less costly robots and no AI 30 years ago. The only reason we stopped is because the manufacturing sector was bought up and shut down by US companies who shifted the work to Mexico and the southern US.

  2. In a country such as China where people are a mere resource, what do you think is going to happen as million upon millions of residents on the mainland lose their only source of income to robotics? What is the usual response of an entire population without food or the prospects of a reasonable life historically? It isn’t pretty, but it IS decisive.

  3. sooooo the ‘terror’ is merely related to, ahem, ye olde economics.
not the fact chirer in 4,000 years never had a *single day* anything resembling western democratic freedoms. and their history rampant with abuse of their *own* citizens and ‘1984’ surveillance like millions of surveillance cameras linked to facial recognition.
and that ‘social financial credits’ thing. aka ‘rock the boat you starve’ (which l predict will take over the entire globe when the massive super compter networks managing everything talk to each other and conclude theys bes tooooo many hoomahns)

nah, the horror is Ford Motor Company’s market share can vanish like an Eaton’s store

  4. Fed Chief Powell insists that manufacturing isn’t America’s future. We’re a service economy… he believes that poor people living in communist nations and robots should make our stuff. My AI answer:

The Federal Reserve Chair has indicated that the U.S. economy is evolving, and manufacturing may not be the primary driver of future growth. Instead, the focus is shifting towards innovation and service sectors as key components of economic development.

  5. An investment newsletter I subscribe to put it this way: The dragon is coming to dinner. The question is, are you at the table or on the menu?
It sounds like Ford has chosen the latter.
