Update: PBO Exposes Ottawa’s “Capital Budgeting” Smoke‑and‑Mirrors

According to the report, Finance Canada’s new definition of “capital investment” now includes six different categories of spending, everything from tax expenditures and operating subsidies to measures that “contribute to housing stock.” Those are all expenses — money gone — but under the new system, they’ll be treated like long-term investments.

  1. They can rearrange and rename lines on the left side of the ledger all they want, the fact still remains that the right side of the ledger (liabilities) will continue to become unsustainably larger.

PBO estimates around $69 Billion deficit. Is that only the “operating” deficit and then any “investment” will add to that? Can anyone answer that? Anyone? Buehler?

Still say that at the end of the day (Nov. 4th) the GOC will owe an additional $100 billion at least.

  2. If a citizen were to add up the moneys invested in “long term investments” and “short term” (bridging financing?) and pension debt and outflows from the federal gov’t for overseas gender equitable rice in Vietnam and teaching people to not poop on the beach somewhere over there and buying armaments for Ukraine and battery factories, I bet that’s a real large number. If I said that number is going to be over $100 Billion in Canada this year, will that be sufficient to have the federal gov’t block me from social media?

Is having citizens add these together the elephant in the room? and posting it on social medias part of the internet hate bill that’s going to block me and everyone at SDA from posting about this, as well as being able to say, “the gov’t has blocked my access to the internet” and possibly telling my neighbors about it,

Is the real problem, that the federal gov’t in its entirety is too stupid to add up this very large number?
I think that’s the problem. Also, that so many of us will ridicule them, and when they cry about it, we’ll make memes of them crying, and then make memes of them being angry about the memes making fun of them, all the while laughing at them being angry for being angry?
    Is that it?

  3. Well Carney just hired one of his banker buddies to do defense procurement at twice what the finance minister makes, some $679k a year. I’m sure he will also be helping by cooking the books.
