  1. There are a couple of articles online (Vulture? mag) explaining that Jimmy Kimmel’s show “couldn’t” be losing $40 million per year. I didn’t click on it, others on X/Twitter have repeated this figure.

    It seems a lot to lose each year, and compounded by the past 4 years trend of late night shows losing 1/2 their audience. Jimmy had about 160k viewers per show, which for a “national late nite show” seems to be about as many as who used to watch CTV late news in Calgary. Not the nation, just one city.
    Perhaps the network carrying the Jimmy Kimmel Show’s accumulating debt should mention this so the 160k national audience doesn’t lose their minds, or “take up arms” like they have against people who question their ethics.

    If I’d invested in this network, I’d have some questions. (I would also be questioning my sanity for investing in network Tv but that’s another issue).

    2. I’ve long thought the reason these “losses” are acceptable is the same reason that, during wartime, the propaganda dept isn’t expected to turn a profit; it’s a necessary expense.

      The Left declared war (long march thru the institutions) years ago. The normal people didn’t take these jackasses seriously and here we are, no more hills to “not die on.”

    Hard truth: There is far more evidence that Joe Biden and Bill Clinton are rapists than there is that every conservative in the US is a fascist.

  4. This whole “Jimmy is a victim of the Right’s Cancel Culture” is so bogus.
    First of all, this is not censorship. The Trump administration did not like Kimmel, but they had nothing to do with canceling Jimmy.
    Censorship is when the gov’t tells what should be shared or suppressed (like the Biden administration did)
    But this was not gov’t censorship.
    This was strictly a business decision.
    The network has every right to decide on their own what shows they want to offer the public.
    Kimmel was losing money. What company wants to sustain that?
    Kimmel had alienated over half the country, and his recent statements had alienated many more.
    He has the legal right to say pretty much anything in the Uof S, even asinine things.
    But the parent network does not have to spend money on him – he can speak his mind on his own dime.
    Since when do lefties get to dictate what any company HAS to lose money on?
    Welcome to the reality of the entertainment business – 2 words. Don’t forget the Business part.

      never watch a single episode. prob not more than 5 minutes tops if a performer or guest interested me, most of the time l flipped past it on the dial.

    It is better to cancel no one, whether from right, left or sideways. Just because the vicious left does it is not a reason for anyone to copy them. Once expressions, both moderate or extreme or hateful are pushed underground, they fester and eventually erupt like a boil to cause havoc. In my opinion, better to allow sense and nonsense or even hate to compete in an open environment of true freedom of expression.

    2. That would only work if the people being smeared and defamed can answer back. Ever try defending yourself against a charge of being hate filled or racist? You can’t. And then the hammer comes down on you. Look at that Canadian nurse in BC who now has nearly $100,000 in ‘costs” against her for speaking out about women’s rights to not have self declared fully equipped males in women’s spaces. The game is fixed and it’s always heads I win, tails you lose.

    3. Loser kimmel’s ousting isn’t a FA or free speech issue. He’s allowed to lie on his show and not be prosecuted for it. But lying in a broadcast on public airwaves as he did doesn’t square with FCC regs and these are the consequences.

      If kimmel ranted on the air that craig erwich (head of ABC) was the biggest d-bag loser on the planet it’s likely he’d be fired, so is that also a “free speech” issue?

      The US protects citizens from legal consequences of exercising free speech, but not consequences of that speech. The tyrannical Left has allowed public lying by their minions in the media-entertainment cabal go on so long that unfettered ässholes like kimmel feel entitled to their broadcast behaviour and those chickens have come home.

      And finally… fkuc jimmy kimmel. He’s been so vile and hate-filled against trump and conservatives if you pricked him he’d ooze pus. Good riddance to human garbage, and now it’s time go enjoy Italy. Nobody with half a brain is mourning his fate.

      True, but we don’t have an open environment of true freedom of expression. What we have is an oppressive environment where women are called “birthing people” and if you don’t agree, you will be fired from your job. Or, as in the case in England, arrested at the airport when you arrive home.

      So when faced with individuals gleefully dancing in the blood of a murdered man, and furthermore smearing his memory with lies, and planning their next target, it seems necessary to hold these goblins to the standard they have insisted upon for the rest of us.

      I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this Steve, but there are bullies in the world. In my experience they will -never- back off unless you punch them in the face. Consequences. #JimmyKimmel being fired by ABC for his egregious lies is the punch in the face the Left has needed for at least 15 years.

      Let their mouthpieces and faceless minions suffer the same oppression for having an objectionable opinion that the rest of us have suffered, then -maybe- we can start getting back to the” open environment of true freedom of expression” you’re talking about.

      And maybe, ghod forbid, some of the people PAYING for all this could face some consequences too. The most important thing to remember about rent-a-mobs is that they are RENTED. Somebody -paid- them to be there burning cars. Maybe that guy could be made responsible for the damage his rented minions caused? Just a notion of mine.

When issues like this come up and the left says things that would only make sense if the past didn’t exist, (like threatening potential censorship of the type that has already been happening to the right for decades), one must remember that they do it because this strategy works great with their moronic base of voters.

    Most of the left will argue until they are blue in the face that the media is biased to the right despite all of the real world examples otherwise, just like many will now argue that the govt never told us the COVID vaccines would stop people from getting or spreading it, only that it stopped severe cases.
