Sure it may not be “an ideal situation” but it is the situation Israel’s been given, and I applaud the Israelis making lemonade with what they have.

The argument is they don’t – most of the Middle East can’t stand Hamas and the Palestinian charade, but they’re pursuing a policy of appeasement. They know Hamas will carry out terrorist attacks on them for being insufficiently Islamist if they don’t provide aid and support for the cause.

Netanyahu is forcing them to re-evaluate that cost-benefit analysis. The more Israel rolls up Hamas in Hamas’ own territory, the weaker Hamas gets – and the easier it is for Israel to tell other nations to stop harboring Hamas because Israel is the bigger threat.
