  1. Whatever can be abused, will be abused. It’s not difficult to deduce that whatever the state handles, it will invariably mishandle to some degree.

Today, i have taken the first step to becoming a Canadian citizen. Don’t known how long it will take. But after coming up on 56 years, it’s time.

Came for the fish, stayed for the beaver!

      1. Indeed I did. Knocked her up too. Our son is a Dr. of computer science. He is wildly successful. He made more in 2 years than I did in my whole life. He married AND bought a house entirely on his own. In Toronto. He put himself through university on his own as well.

( It may show through that I am very proud.)

  2. Question: Are any of these jobs being advertised TO CANADIANS at these salaries? You can’t find Temp’s. for ANY of these jobs from the Canadian citizenry. I say “Temp’s” … because that’s what you’re then hiring, right? Temporary workers?

Kelly Temp. Services can’t provide your Temp. worker needs?

    1. You can try applying for them, and then you never get a call back, because you aren’t really willing to work for $5 a hour and pay up to $40k for the job.

  3. Is part of the problem being that some young people are useless or think they’re useless?
Or is it the opposite – these jobs are beneath them in their lofty opinion?

Youth unemployment in Canada is over 14%.

    1. Yes. I retired and sold my business 22 years ago because the young Canadians I hired annually were increasingly unreliable, entitled, and spoiled. Up until then they were great.

Increasingly, though, I found the new hires had no loyalty or reponsibility.

I blame the ‘educational’ system that started going downhill about the time teachers started calling themselves ‘educators’, administrations were increasingly padded, and unions put teachers wants ahead of students.

Those who continue in my former business import Mexicans annually. These Mexicans hav e a work ethic and are paid well, with benefits. The same workers return annually.

My friends advertise to Canadians, of course, and the occasional Canadian they hire seldom (never) works out for long. Interestingly, a Ukrainian has, though.

      1. Bingo. What is critical to a business is productivity, not the nominal wage. Paying people $40 a hour who show up with an entitlement attitude won’t make them more productive; the opposite will occur. The productivity of many foreign workers makes the venture profitable; get rid of them and the business will fail.

        1. If Canadian kids won’t work, its certainly yet another indication of the country’s impending doom

(We had a 19 year old apprentice out of the K-town local work with us for 3 weeks in August. He was excellent.)

      2. I’m highly skeptical about this anecdotal observation. However, there is NO DOUBT that teenagers are more immature and unreliable than Mexican adults. And that is the choice employers like you are making and it shouldn’t be allowed. Because you are accessing labour at slave wage rates (unnaturally suppressed by a market distorting government program). This type of situation is often compared, accurately, to that of an alcoholic. You are addicted to the substance and if you do stop drinking, the withdrawal is very difficult and living without it is also difficult.

The fact is, there is nothing wrong with Canadian kids, other than they no longer have the opportunity to develop a work ethic when they are younger. All of the low skill jobs are going to foreigners.

    2. No, it is the (&^*%%*$% government pays the employer a bunch of money to hire foreigners, and subsidizes their wages. It’s a grift, with bad intentions, brought to you by the Libranos.

      1. This is it, for sure. The TFW is paid minimum wage and they are extorted for “living accommodation” that are also paid by the franchise/business holder. The TFW cannot work anywhere else and so they are stuck for 2 years in this situation. These criminal enterprises have also branched out to international students which is why you see millions upon millions of “students” who are here to be “educated” but don’t ever leave. So it’s corruption and it would be easily discoverable and easy to stop, but the Liberals, as usual, have their bloated obese hands stuck in the cookie jar.

  4. Governments of all stripes appear to possess little to no capability for foresight. I swear they all govern (and legislate) strictly from election to election with no concern for anything beyond that. The TFW program was ridiculous from the start, and should be scrapped immediately.

I also think that future immigration should be tied to our unemployment rate. Our *real* unemployment rate.

  5. Nail Care Technician – $36.60/hr. I’m sure some women like a manicure, but those shops are quite common
now and I have never seen anyone enter these establishments (woman or man). If my guess is right there should
be a Nail Salon at 787 Dundas St. W.

  6. It’s sickening.
They are NOT paid those wages at all.
“Alex, for $1,000, what is a KICKBACK?”
This fully displays the scam this has become under Libranos rule.
A whole industry has sprung up around this, for, CONSULTANTS.
They skim off as headhunters, they skim from the employers.
And, employers get the wages subsidized by gubermint.
The TFW system is rotten to the core today.
It’s been around for many, many years, largely to supply field workers to the agriculture industry. Most of us can live with that. No one works as hard as a Mexican in the fields at 100 degrees. Show me a white kid that will do that for 3 hours, let alone 12 hours.
But, today’s TFW program is far removed from what it was 10 years ago.
It needs to be pared back severely, back to what it was. (Yeah, good luck with that)

    1. ‘It’s been around for many, many years, largely to supply field workers to the agriculture industry. Most of us can live with that.’

I cannot live with that. It’s as disgusting as the rest of the TFW program. If you’ll allow a personal anecdote: I live in a valley that has a bunch of market gardens. The way it used to work (prior to about 2000 when the TFW program really started being abused) was they hired a few full timers and then supplemented their labour demand by hiring hundreds of high school kids for the summer. It was highly sought after summer jobs for us kids because it paid about twice minimum wage. That’s right. The short term demand for labour increased the wages the employer needed to pay in order to get the labour they needed.

Canada does not need to import a slave underclass for any industry. People need to stop repeating this lie.

  7. If part of your business model is taking jobs from Canadians then you don’t get my business. Pretty easy to roll through a drive thru without ordering anything.

    1. Do you believe you are entitled to your job? If you do, that’s the root of the problem, not the presence of a foreign worker.

  8. I recall every recent PM (Liberal and Conservative) has been claiming Canada needs more and more immigration … and now we see the result.

    https://x.com/jasonjamesbnn/status/1964714289140547876
” …This is insane. Canada imported 36.5% of it’s population in the last 10 years.

And that’s just what they tracked. They didn’t provide the numbers for those who entered illegally because they have no idea.

To put this in perspective, 5% would be huge. 10% would be a crisis. 36% is an atomic bomb going off in every major city. No country on earth- not even the United States- has the infrastructure necessary to successfully integrate this many people in such a short amount of time. “

    1. The major problem facing Western nations is the unrestrained growth of the welfare state. Having more or fewer foreign workers doesn’t change that. In fact, replacing more productivity, harder working foreign workers with less productive, entitlement seeking native born employees make it even harder to finance all those freebies.

      1. Except for the fact that you’re just repeating a lie. These “harder working foreign workers” aren’t any better than native born. What you are doing is comparing teenagers who’ve never had a job to 35 year old adults whose slave wages are multiplied by a massive currency exchange back in the homeworld.

The problem? You have imported millions of polygamist muslim men who bring their wives.. oh sorry.. their wife, and all her “sisters” and “aunties”. Man puts his slaves to work at minimum wage jobs, collects all of the funds and uses that money to buy a business. That’s when the grift really starts to get rolling. They get connected to the TFW pipeline and it’s expansion time.

The theory that Canada can be better off importing a slave underclass because “they work hard” is idiotic.

    2. The way this is going to end is one day we are going to wake up to a Muslim Brotherhood national political party being formed. And before we know it, they will form the Official Opposition. And then government. That is the progression and I think we’re perhaps 2 or 3 generations from an Islamic government in Canada. Mark my words. There will also be Hindu versions of political parties formed. First at the provincial level and then national parties.

When this starts, you’re going to want to be well into the process of emigrating.

  9. Credible theory is that employers, via immigration consultants, are charging tfw’s between $10,000-$40,000 to get these jobs. Then instead of paying the tfw employee the $36 per hour, the employer is paying the tfw half of that wage or less. But, the employer claims the full wage amount on their business tax for various tax credits. There are also reports of tfw’s being subjugated to working conditions that are in far short of labor standards and even bordering on criminal conditions. The UN and Amnesty International have said that Canada’s TFW program is an example of modern day slavery. The TFW workers also are disproportionately using food banks and shelters meant for Canadians.

The foreign workers are being exploited and Canadian workers are blocked from employment opportunities. Only business owners and corporations are benefiting from this program. The TFW program should be limited to traditional areas like seasonal agriculture, fish plants, etc.,

    1. Any organization that is employing a TFW should be subjected to a deep audit every year, but that would require the CRA to do work, which isn’t going to happen.

It should be immediately obvious if they aren’t paying out the full wage, just by looking at the cheques and payroll packages.

  10. Reading all the comments makes me think the whole thing is yet another Shitshow.
When you’re a nation striving for Shithole status, you need useless citizens, a welfare state, Marxist government, a debt bomb and immigrants who send their wealth out of the country.

We have a brain drain to the US and a wealth drain to the rest of the world.

    National suicide.

  11. I know of a construction/mining company paying TFW’s from the Philippines less than half of what they pay their regular staff. (heavy duty mechanics) In addition to this, they charge the workers to live in the company owned mobile homes.

    1. Yes, and the reason this all works is because the government designed the legislation in consultation with the very companies who are exploiting it right now. The companies who talk to Carney and tell them how much they need TFWs as they hand him paper bags filled with cash.

  12. I’v had pretty good luck hiring local white Canadians.
Have a 25 yo female working with me now, great worker, ambitious, and damn good looking.

  13. And I owe my soul to the company store.
The TFW program is modern slavery..mated with systemic corruption.
Everything government touches turns to crap, why did anyone expect anything different with this program?
    .
As anyone who can do basic math knows, the real minimum wage is zero.
But in a welfare state, those who refuse to work are rewarded.
The “businesses” are lying, the quoted wages are quite revealing…So shouldn’t the local work force be offered higher wages??
As they do not require being housed and fed..
Oh right.. expenses to be written off …. perverse incentives abound.
And at our current taxation levels, any chance to steal some back cannot be overlooked.
And the power..TFW have no rights and if charged criminally are deported..the perfect slave..
Bringing out the worst society has to offer, through government incentive.
    Can Ahh Duh.
