        1. The Turtles were great. Happy together.
          And lest we forget, Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (Eddy) of the Turtles became “Flo and Eddy” as singers in an iteration of Zappa’s Mothers.
          Flo was short for “the Fluorescent Leech”.
          Zappa even had them singing happy together on, I think, Live from the Filmore LP.
          Oh, and Kenji, Mark played a mean tambourine, but he could also play a guitar and sing well.

          1. He embodied the iconoclastic rock vibe of 60’s -70’s music. He gave an otherwise staid band a kick of pure energy.

            Oh, and unrelated … my streaming mix just served up some fairly early Clapton (1970) doing the song Let it Rain. Another overlooked gem from his catalog. The way he just vamps and grooves off the primary riff is amazing. What a guitar virtuoso! Here’s a live extended version with Derek and the Dominos … fabulous.
