  1. How is it even possible that Manitoba would receive transfer payments to the extent they have? is Manitoba Hydro exempt from calculations like Hydro Quebec? I can’t understand how MB citizens keep voting in NDP governments when the evidence is overwhelming that fiscal incompetence is the default position. Not that Alberta hasn’t made some stinkers, but seriously, what the heck is wrong with Manitoba?
And the pundits wonder why the Alberta independence movement is gaining traction…..

  2. L – Constitutional Lawyers Bruce Pardy and Bruce Hallsor describe how aboriginal land claims supersede, as per Supreme Court decisions, Property Rights of fee simple land ownership for home and commercial property. As for the former and the latter, who would choose to invest in Canada, under such terms. With hundreds of $billions of investment having fled Canada under 15 years of Liberals outlaw, in effect, energy and resource development, add in the precedent of freezing bank accounts. We thought that was terrible, but in theory fixable, by electing a patriotic government. But when fee simple ownership is Constitutionally over ridden by aboriginal land claims. There is no fix to that within Confederation, but only by way of independence and rewriting a new constitution under which order could triumph over chaos… The Supremes didn’t foresee the implications of inherited unequal legal status of Canadians or not? But it’s a Gordian Knot Constitutional problem.

Of course, if there is no wealth to redistribute, then equalization wealth transfers becomes moot.

    1. The more I see of the pace of inversion of apartheid under the Charter, the more I expect the only way separation can achieve a positive outcome for the west minus brain-dead sections of BC would be non-negotiation with Canada, IOW, UDI.

    2. But, but, but … we “stole their land”. That’s not even debatable anymore. That mis-truth is now indelibly written in the frontal cortex of every citizen of North America. It’s only a matter of time before massive “reparations” kick in. Yeah … wayyyyy more than has been paid to date.

Funny, isn’t it … that nobody says the same thing about any country south of the Rio Grande? Not how the Spanish stole Mexico, Nor the Portuguese stole Brazil … etc. nobody is demanding land-back or money payouts to the native tribes of any Central or South American country. I guess only white people suffer from guilt, eh?

    3. “Of course, if there is no wealth to redistribute, then equalization wealth transfers becomes moot.”

      The inevitable result of socialism.

  3. The numbers show what Battered Province Syndrome looks like.
And who the worst abuser is.
Welcome to our support group, Newfoundland.

  4. I like how the Fwench complain about Canada, claim they are distinct society and a separate nation (Harper damn near codified it) and how they are poorly served by Ottawa. And how they feel they deserve even more.

You people out west are a bunch of fckn idiots.
If you’re outnumbered by family, friend and neighbors who are fine with those numbers, you need to do something about it once and for all.
People who impoverish you are your enemy.

  5. You have a small, short window of time to have AB and SK become independent, a US state – whatever – before too many 3rd world immigrants outnumber you.

    Act wisely.

    1. ah, ya, jam up theast good and proper, thejuciest target swamped before the great wakening. now the smaller weaker and TOTALLY COMPLIANT SO FAR west such easy pcikings. for them to be as stark example of flinging the border open, cautionary warning not permitted. playing it safe like LIEberals are oft to do.

  6. So, what you’re not seeing is the ‘other’ taxpayer money that is dumped into certain provinces via all the different departments and agencies. I’m talking about direct and indirect monies – wages, contracts, infrastructure upgrades, NGOs, and the rest of the boondoggles. Would this need an ATIP? How much of this information would be redacted?

  7. The Alberta Next panel website has a 3+ minute video laying out the equalization numbers. It pretty much makes the case against Canada as it is.

Note: I am not recommended the panel’s site – first you have to watch the propaganda videos before you get to the surveys instead of showing them after they ask questions and then maybe asking again; and, second, the “submission” option seems pretty insincere. it’s limited in both length and format – so I put mine on my paul530.substack.com site and, as the guy on Top Gear said “I am writing to the BBC about this and I don’t care if they don’t read it” – because they clearly think they already know everything.

  8. good grief ABSK its like they’re pushing you to the max KNOWING you will ‘put up with it and put up with it’. might have worked, and it did. but the overall future of Cdn economy is shyte. the result they will GOUGE you in increasing amounts until that magic moment you are INDENTURED and no option but to whine like true Canaduhians and write shouda-coulda tomes.
at which point l guffaw and once again for the 571st time get ignored and REALLY let loose with the mocking and finger pointing. up to you. idjits.

    1. in ABSK’s case the *transfer payments* will end.
the theft will continue, the feds will keep it all because they’re broke.
reinforced by the sharia principle that non believers must pony up wealth, that ‘protection racket’ thing. it has a name. and how did that start? with lots and lots of mr muhamad X M.P. for tranna and parts east.

      1. I don’t understand why hydro electricity is not classified as a resource, but crude oil production is. Well, actually I do understand. If you could get hydro into the equalization calculation, the disparity would mostly end.

On the government’s web-site they state equalization is based not on the revenues of a province but on what the province could raise by way of taxes if it taxed at the average national rate. Thus, the higher you tax, the more equalization you receive. The less you tax, the more you pay into the equalization program.

Alberta, could increase taxes to above the national rate and then make everything free in the province, at least until Quebec and the other provinces give up. Find a way to work inside the system to break it, and end it.

        1. yup. no defence to an organism eating from the inside.
there’s some reaaaaaaaaaally ugly looking parasites out there not just the usual crowd.

  9. Q: How is it even possible that Manitoba would receive transfer payments to the extent they have?

A: MB citizens keep voting in NDP governments

As Gad Saad has said, parasites don’t just go away . . .

  10. This why Quebec ‘independence’ is a joke but why Alberta’s ‘independence’ isn’t.

  11. Well, you could have a new country…
I really don’t see why Canadians put up with what they do, but your lives, your country. (the Quebecois have been very clever though, have to give them that; yes, it’s a shake down, but it’s worked)

Off topic but PEI gets the win for ironic equalization payments.

    1. “Off topic but PEI gets the win for ironic equalization payments.”

Yes, and for their ridiculous *four* MPs for a tiny island with a population of 180,000.

(and, of course, they always elect Liberals)

      1. Well, there’s this matter of scale. PEI gets fantastic equalization per capita, but there ain’t much capita there. They get about enough to run a nice little theme park with, and that’s sort of what they do with it. It looks like value for money well spent. Quebec gets less per capita but it’s enormous, and their entire economy is dependent on it. Equalization wouldn’t be considered a problem if Quebec weren’t so flagrantly exploiting it.

  12. ah, ya, jam up the east good and proper, the juciest target swamped before the great awakening. now the smaller weaker and TOTALLY COMPLIANT SO FAR west such easy pickings. for them to be as stark example of flinging the border open, cautionary warning not permitted. playing it safe like LIEberals are oft to do.
