National Post- Poilievre sweeps to Battle River-Crowfoot byelection victory
Poilievre, who faces a leadership review early next year, needed to not only win the riding but post numbers similar to Kurek’s. With 150 of 286 polls reporting, Poilievre had 18,263 votes. Second-place runner Bonnie Critchley, an independent, had 2,124 votes. There were 214 candidates registered, many of them placed by the Longest Ballot Committee, a group that is advocating for electoral reform. Because of the length of the potential ballot, Elections Canada decided to go with a write-in system instead, slowing the vote count.

The Longest Ballot Committee has every right to lobby for election reform, but attempting to debauch an election is a poor way to win support.
Triply so when it involves the leader of the opposition.

Were was your outrage when elections canada didn’t audit the libtards after 2015 win, when ec admitted there was questionable funds injected into libtards coffers????
Oh shut up.
Now, now, remember Kate instituted mandatory logins because of insults like that.
Did Kate say anything about childish whataboutisms?
“Shut up” is not an insult, it’s a policy proposal. And pointing out that someone is not following the standards he professes is not “whataboutism”. And it would be nice if you could express an opinion without taking a stinking dump all over the hostess’s carpet. That said, I don’t think Marmot is under any obligation to offer the same response to every incident related to the electoral system. Let him rile over what riles him.
Dick has no idea what my reaction was to Election Canada “not auditing the Libtards”. Neither do I; it was ten years. Dick’s post was just kicking up a lot of dust. Thus my disdainful reply.
“I was talking about Hamlet, the historic person”, said Tom Swift, disdainfully.
So is the Longest Ballot Committee going to step into the CPC Leadership race?
Let’s see – should be able to round up a couple hundred to run in that race too.
The Longest Ballot Committee’s alleged goal is hard to take seriously, since they only pull this stunt with the CPC leader. Why not target Carney? Maybe it’s because they just hate conservatives. Since running in a federal election isn’t free by a long stretch, who’s funding the deposits?
There are no deposits after a court case involving one of the brothers convinced a judge that the deposit was an impairment to participation in democracy.
They are a complete farce when they don’t even vote for themselves. Of the 214 “candidates”, 75 received zero votes. All of 61 managed to get one vote.
75 of them probably didn’t live in the riding. Assuming they are real people.

Did the “Longest Ballot Committee” register as a 3rd party advertiser?
They may have messed up in this by-election, as several of their candidates have websites, which indicates money was spent, so as the registered agent, he’ll have to do some reports.
