  1. Back in the day everyone assumed fires were started by the part time fire bosses looking for a summer’s work.

    1. Back in the day in BC, if you needed a summer job, the thing to do was go light a fire and then go wait in the bar for the Forest Service to come and get you.

  2. Holy Wah…
First the Nova Scotia guy, now this guy, both of whom seem like groomed guys citing prepared narratives.
Is this going to sweep from east to west?
The climate lockdown pandemic has begun.
    Mask up and OBEY.
Kidding. That can’t be real, eh? Be safe! Elbow and whatever,
    Sorry.

  3. Yeah … and the CRIMINAL firestarters … the eco-terrorists and Muslim terrorists care about fines or jail time. Fines like these are aimed at good citizens who have something to lose. Aimed at those with the means to pay … i.e. … it’s a 2-tier justice system. Throw the book at innocents and ignore the true criminals.

    1. You beat me to firestarters!! Remember, gas burns through water, and canoes start fires, ’cause they say so.
Never forget that. Only an enemy of the state would disagree. Progressives making us safer, with an iron fist.
They deserve high Marx for their efforts to prove themselves superior human beings, infallible and omnipotent.
Oh, and Trump, who has driven even the gilded plutocrats into hysterical paralysis as he and the world pass by.

      1. Honestly Sham and all my conservatives friends here on SDA … I feel for you. Your nation has gone completely off the rails and your fellow sheeple are cheering the errant train. I honestly believe you’ve out-Marxist’d Marxist CA.

        1. I need neither your pity nor your ignorance. Keep your inane insane thoughts to yourself, they don’t apply to me. You sound like another one of them there communist mind readers, projecting dumb.

  4. Well that makes my selection that much easier on where to spend the next few weeks. And it will not be in Nfld (nor Labrador), nor Nova Scotia.

  5. Is it only “residents” of Labrador and NFLD which are subject to this fine and 6 months in the big house?

So, if I visit, we’re ok with the bonfire?

  6. L – Do Newfoundlanders have any fire in their belly ? That is the question. Does the state serve the people? Or has there been an unannounced coup reversing that?

The Magna Carta, the foundational constitutional document of Common-Law nations, points out limitations on arbitrary and capricious government. “…a freeman is not to be amerced for a small offence, except in proportion of the nature of the offence, and for a great offence, he is to be amerced in accordance with it’s magnitude, saving to him his livelihood,…”

Our British ancestors were a revolutionary people, who had to assert their Natural Rights repeatedly; before the Magna Carta was finally acceded to permanently as of foundational status. Monarchs, the Crown and its minions had to be brought to heel repeatedly. It’s part
and parcel of the idea of responsible government, of self government.

As Prof. Jordan Peterson reminds us. If we fail to live up to and exercise our responsibilities. Then someone else will, and likely someone, who does not have our best interests in mind.

  7. The boreal forest in Canada, every 80 to 120 years, has to die off by fire, or be logged and used. I can think of at least 14 Canadian pulp/paper mills that have shut down in the last 20 years.

  8. It’s clear now that public education has failed in a major way. Not to them, this is what they want. I was O.K. with the idea, but I can now see the results.

  9. If the G of NS collects enough in fines they could forgo their equalization payments. This could be a good thing.

  10. What home address do we use to legally serve Mother Gaia when lightning starts a bunch of forest fires up there?

  11. The question is why are they doing this? Because of arsonists or looters? Or because they wear diapers?

    1. Because this is canuckistan: the government can do whatever the hell it wants, from keeping you inside for the Plandemic to this totalitarian bullshït.

  12. We had an incident in our community where a stranger was riding down the highway on a quad lighting fires every few hundred metres. When the folks who saw him stopped to question him he said he had to teach the world about climate change. The world was burning and we needed to see it.

It’s a very good thing the poor young man was spotted by the locals. Very shortly afterward his quad rolled and he was injured, especially his face which was particularly battered. Fortunately, the folks who witnessed the accident were there to render first aid and call police.

    1. I hope I’m reading between the lines correctly because his face should have been “particularly battered” after the locals observed him lighting the first fire or so. Then they could roll his quad as proof of the “accident” and no harm done.
