Peter Menzies- Trudeau crippled Canada’s media. AI might now kill it
It will be two years in August since Facebook, prompted by the Justin Trudeau regime’s maladroit handling of digital legislation, departed from the business of carrying links to news in Canada.
I can’t decide whether I hate the Canadian press or AI more.
AI might kill it?
I don’t see the problem.
Canada’s media?
One might naively interpret that to mean the media Canadians choose to consume. As opposed to socialist propaganda approved by a fascist government, and funded by Canadian taxpayers without their consent.

So… who’s to blame for this? Menzies? AI? Editors?
Either way I’m not thrilled.
Given that the modern media has decided to go all in on Yellow Journalism or amplification of stories that other people write, why do we need to subsidize the media at all?
Why believe anything anymore?

In the last couple of days, I have Googled eight queries about things I already know: laws, biology, engine design, mead brewing, that sort of thing.
In six of the responses, AI got major concepts very wrong.
But you have to know the subject matter to recognize how wrong it was.
So I’d tell anyone who cares to listen that A.I. is, at least right now, crap. Avoid it like the plague.
Duck Duck Go’s AI is quite helpful, and I’ve found quite accurate. I have used it without ever consulting the actual search results. Imagine that! A pnother newfangled high tech thingy that I didn’t know I needed … but use heavily.
