Kevin Klein- Twenty-year wait for a curb fix — has City Hall lost control of basic services?
This isn’t a one-off. When I was a city councillor, it was routine to receive calls from residents who’d been given timelines of 15 to 25 years for minor repairs — curbs, back lanes, sidewalks. People would laugh at first, assuming it was a joke. It wasn’t. It still isn’t.
And yet, taxes keep going up.
Zero-based budgeting works where people care.
Canadian municipal/provincial/federal socialists don’t GAF about anything, but stealing the wealth of the filthy tax slaves.
Now do CalTrans and California’s crumbling, undersized, freeways. And crumbling County, and City roads. Our taxes go everywhere BUT their intended target. Garbage spending on global warming something or others and massive, unfunded bloated public pensions. Yes, the taxpayers are being LOOTED.

We can begin to recycle old Soviet jokes at this point. When the city tells you it will be 25 years for a sidewalk repair you reply that you need to know if it will be in the morning or the afternoon as you have a doctor’s appointment in the morning.
When I lived in the ‘Peg 40+ years ago, not only were we being fleeced by politicians, but also the employees of the city. City outside workers were caught having routinely taken cash to pave homeowners’ Lakeway driveways. I’m sure things have only gotten more sophisticated.
This is your municipality when it is under federal gov’t jurisdiction.

“Last night at 10:00 pm I received an email from the Municipality saying we owe $11,125.00 to replace the sidewalks in front of our lost home due to damage from the contractor that did the debris removal. There are a few cracks in the cement and a few chips along the edge!! These sidewalks are approximately 45 years old!! How can this be $11,000!! They are charging us for 17.2 sq m”
