New Governor, Same As The Old Governor

Those procurement contracts don’t write themselves. It takes time for Carney insiders to set up their phony baloney numbered companies.

  1. Don’t believe a word of any promises that they make. Think of the worst that could happen and wait for it to happen because that is what Carney wants to happen.

    1. Funny munney, just for laffs, you know.
As Chretien says, what’s a few million dollars!

  2. I foresee a large number of five thousand dollar hammers and twelve million dollar Bobcats procured to do DND construction work.

    But no actual construction.

  3. 2 Billion trees planted
Clean potable water on all Indian reservations
    Most transparent government ever
    Millions of new houses
    Get vaxed, stay healthy
Everyday for a decade, a new promise made

2B of the Canadian constitution, complete garbage, all of it actually…

  4. On the other hand, God forbid Canada should start making gun barrels, right? At the moment the USA has ONE (1, as in singular) factory making barrels for 105mm and 120mm field artillery. The facility is at Watervliet Arsenal in NY state, and they make 18 barrels a month.

A field gun (or a tank, or a mobile artillery tank) can only fire ~1500 rounds before it needs to be refurbished with a new barrel. In Ukraine they go through them in a couple months.

The Americans make 18 in a month.

Gee, doesn’t that sound like a business opportunity for Canada? We already make the steel that’s suitable for gun barrels at Dofasco in Hamilton and at Stelco in Nanticoke. (The Americans probably buy theirs from us.) We already have the rolling mills to make the billets. It would not be impossible (or even very hard, honestly) to set up a facility making gun barrels, and then SELL THEM to Uncle Sam at a sweet premium.

Because the Americans only make 18 in a month.

    Because they are stupid.

They have similar bottlenecks for other high-demand munitions, like artillery rounds, air-to-air missiles, infantry carried missiles, actual lead for small arms ammunition (because #Barry closed the last lead mine in the USA 8 years ago) and so forth. We even have tungsten, I think. So here we are, perfectly situated to make a killing.

But will we do that? Or anything remotely like that? No! Absolutely not. We will never do that here because this is Canada, and seizing opportunity is considered gauche. Also it would interfere with some side deal some #Lieberal has going with the #Chicoms, that would be the real reason.

    1. Do we have the expertise to actually build the barrels? Probably not, because no one in Canada really studies that sort of thing since Bull left.

Do we have the equipment to build the barrels? Again, I couldn’t find a company in Canada that does Autofrettage at 105mm, 120mm or 155mm, but I didn’t look very hard.

And problem number three is that every step of the process requires energy typically produced with Hydrocarbons, which Carney has no interest in expanding in Canada

    2. Lemme tell you a story. One time right after the Cold War, they upgraded the Air Force’s F-5s. New avionics and stuff. Then the gubmint cut the Defense to reap the benefits of having won the Cold War and the AIr Force was forced to get rid of them. They sat in hangars in Ontario waiting for a buyer. Some NATO country wanted to buy them, but we made them promise they would not use the aircraft to hurt anybody. As far as I know we never sold them and they were dismantled and parts used for training. That’s how stupid we are.

Carnage has announced the opening of a new BIG PROJECTS office.

  9. Iqualuit, a permanent base? That’s so funny. Did the talking head say they wanted to base tankers in Inuvik? That’s a lot of promises.

“The runway at Inuvik (Mike Zubko) Airport (CYEV), designated as 06/24, is 6,001 feet long and 150 feet wide. It is also known as CYEV. There is an ongoing project to extend the runway by 3,000 feet, bringing the total length to 9,000 feet, according to the Government of Northwest Territories. The extension project also includes upgrades to taxiways and lighting. The original completion date was 2024 or 2025, but the project is now expected to be completed in November 2027”

How about they start small and buy some furniture, chairs and plates for Alert so people don’t have to eat in shifts?

  10. There was a time when Canadians were thought of as tough pioneers, then fierce soldiers, then overly nice people. Now I think “ignorant Dupes” when I hear the word Canadian.
