    1. I was “detained” at CVS yesterday as I had to wait 15min. in line to pick up my prescriptions. Thank goodness I wasn’t “detained” 40m below ground, in a dirt tunnel, chained, with an AK-47 at my head. However, I didn’t enjoy my experience much more.

      And no … I will never visit Disneyland ever again as I don’t like being “detained” an hour in line while waiting for a 2 min. long ride.

    detainee—a person held in custody, especially for political reasons.

    (So, essentially, the “non-biased” press suggests that this is a mere political matter.)

    Also, according to Oxford:

    hostage—a person seized or held as security for the fulfillment of a condition.

    (That seems a whole lot more accurate and reflective of the actual situation. But, it, also, carries negative connotations.)

    Moral of the story: Next time you rob a bank, make sure you get yourself some detainees. Stay away from the hostages. That’s illegal.

  4. I disagree with their usage of “detainee”

    I doubt if anyone in realville refers to gaza as an “enclave” anymore. When the last of the hostages are released, is Israel going to ever allow transit between their lands and gaza again? Ever? Is there a desperate shortage of street sweepers in Israel?

    Sometimes it takes a few times for a lesson to stick with you.

      But didn’t they stop returning hostages in the last cease fire because they had none left to return? or at least that seemed to be the excuse.

      what’s going to happen this time, they return 3 live ones, then they return 3 bodies that cant be identified and then nah, nope, we have re-armed and our local Gaza people have brought their kids back to be bombed again,we cant find any more to return.
