Not seeing a lot of canola in the fields locally (southern Alberta). There appears to be a lot more flax than “normal”. Much of that flax is under irrigation, too, which is rather unusual. Makes sense when you consider that those same fields were previously planted w/ canola.

What surprised the hell out of me was all the “OrangeManBad” sentiment flying around. I couldn’t believe it. People who are otherwise my kind of folk w/ their heads firmly entrenched up their backsides on this issue.
Trump has that effect on the crazies, but also on people who should know better. I’ts impossible to fathom that phenomenon.
In the case of Amazon, They have set up shop in Canada and currently pay significant taxes through the remittance process on physical product sales. This Digital Service Tax is in addition/above and beyond that. I’m assuming that in Amazon’s case the Streaming service is the primary target of the Canadian government’s digital service tax. Amazon does have data centers throughout Canada to assure quality download speeds.
So, although this DST seems a bit vague, I’ll assume that Canada wants a 3% cut of the Stream service (maybe Amazon does some templates for taxes and stuff as well, but it’s likely complimentary to the service). I’m not a fan of taxing the internet. And, while they use a euphemistic name, that’s essentially what it is. It’s going to raise the overall Canadian cost to stream in the end.
Either way, it doesn’t end well for Canada. And, the USMCA is going to end up being the USCA and the USM….count on that.

That’s a totally different issue, but interesting none-the-less. Quebec employees tried to push unionization of Amazon’s Laval warehouse. The law there is that collective bargaining is mandatory. So, Amazon, said “see yah”…then passed off their business in the area to subcontractors after shutting down their own facility. The point being, subcontractors need the work. They won’t organize a union.
