  3. For 40 or 50 years I’ve been whining about the stupidity of fuel efficiency standards. Cars have shrunk to tiny while trucks and vans have ballooned. I suspect the average weight of vehicles is 1,000 pounds more than it was 50 years ago. We drove by a big rural GM dealer yesterday that had row after row of trucks and SUVs but couldn’t spot any car-cars.

    1. There is nothing wrong with fuel efficiency standards, if developed by the industry itself, not when mandated by the government.

    3. In all three the outcome was a foregone conclusion. Two were in Edmonton, a commie slam-dunk. One was rural and guaranteed Conservative. In Edmonton – Ellerslie the Conservatives actually did quite well but lost.
