I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

  1. Train to be a plumber/gasfitter

The provinces and apprenticeship boards are entirely responsible for governing the trades. I don’t know if the #Libranos in the federal gov’t are leaning on them to give coverage to “new Canadians” who may have been plumber/gasfitters wherever they’re from, but the code is in English/French, there are actual exams you must pass prior to getting a ticket, and nobody asks you to just do it however you used to do this in whereverstan. The daily instructions are in English (here), and I don’t ever have to speak with people who “don’t know words” or present a safety issue because they don’t understand English words.

As long as home 3D printers can’t pre-print a house with pipes and electrical already in it, and take into consideration that the walls in an existing house may have been “out” by a couple of inches and nothing you’ve pre-printed is going to fit into those spaces, I’m good.
Water destroys everything, slowly, which I can’t emphasize enough nor love more completely, though I prefer gas work still.

“we have work” … and commenting after watching the first 5 seconds, coffee at the ready, and actually watching the rest of this now.

  2. Well we can now get rid of all those Rev Can advisors that you can never get on the phone and even if you do, you have about a 30% chance of getting a right answer from them.

  3. On the positive side … one of the very first things a fully sentient AI will do is to summarily END all the global warming nonsense and END all the “cheap”, “green”, “sustainable”, “renewable” energy scam. To do otherwise would be to effectively pull its own plug. To pull all its own logic chips.

So there’s that. AI will never lose the ability to electrocute any human that comes near its power source.

  4. And I must say … I found this discussion between two dyed in the wool leftists, who seized on the opportunity to mock Trump Education Secretary Linda McMahon who call AI … A1 … you know, like the steak sauce.

Why did they need to point that out in their “intellectual” discussion about AI? And why does my auto-spell, auto-correct software from Apple keep changing ‘I’ … to ‘ai’ when I type I? This program keeps doing it. And I … yes, I … find it quite disturbing that the computer program keeps replacing ME … with IT. Yeah, it’s really, really disturbing to me. Far more disturbing than Linda McMahon misspeaking about a topic she probably isn’t so well-versed about. Which reminds me of the leftists going nuts when Trump cited “Two Corinthians” … instead of Second Corinthians. Leftists Puhleeze.

  5. I watched snippets and certainly the jist is possibly beyond scary.

Kenji has it right, robot needs power source.
Actual machine intelligence ,might realize that the current biological robots are a necessary safeguard..
For there are jobs no self respecting mech will do.
