Canada, Home of Cheap Talk

As if any projects like these would ever get greenlit.

Prime Minister Mark Carney, seeking to reduce Canada’s economic ties to the United States, on Monday met the heads of the 10 provinces as part of a push to slash the time needed to approve mining and energy projects.

Several Indigenous groups – who have a major say over natural resource development on their lands – say they will oppose any attempt to trim the approval process if it infringes on their rights.

  1. Knowing what Marx Carnage said prior to and during the election, and seeing what’s occurred since then in particular the canceling of tariffs on US origin goods (not that I support tariffs) and knowing that #Librano promises are not all that…
I doubt everything from the First Minister’s Conference, especially promises not due in the future for more than a week. Nevermind in 2x years … holy moly

Recently there’s been a list of things Premier Smith wanted to go over with the other First Ministers in order for AB to continue wanting to be a part of this country. That the PM is seeming to address just one of those, and not the others on the list, isn’t going to make the grade. All the items on that list need be addressed. Note that equalisation, Senate reform, gun control, censorship, are not on the list but items still stuck in AB’s craw.

In a country where all provinces were equal, why does Saskatchewan only get a First Minister’s Conference every 40 years and not every 10 years or every 13 years if the territories are included?
Why, when they talk about “fairness” … is it always entirely bullshit?
Do the #Libranos enjoy their lies so much that they can’t live without?

Some random mutterings on X/Twitter that a separation referendum may be on a ballot when Alberta municipal elections are held on 20 October.

  2. “Gee, I’d really like to help you guys. I’ll approve all the pipelines you want … as soon as you get approval from our First-in-line nations.”

  3. Oh, you want clean drinking water?

    Well,
    1. We’ll have to consult with all First Nations within 1000 km of your area.
    2. We’ll have to do a full environmental analysis and impact assessment of the effects of mining the copper and other metals used in construction.
    3. Dirt moving? No can do. There might be unmarked graves in the area. And construction might endanger or adversely affect the sacred local wildlife.

    1. The Chiefs don’t want clean drinking water for their serfs as it threatens the narrative that they’re all victims of cultural and economic genocide that helps with the strategy of guilt mining. Hey it works for the SCOC who invent rights and entitlements and dispense them like candy but then the SCOC is the keystone of the grievance industry.

  4. Depends.
    On how much cash.
Consultation with free food and drink.
    Many days.
Laced with a lot of cash.
A billion or so would do it.
    Period.

  5. I friend of mine once suggested that we buy out all of the reservations. I thought he was crazy at the time because I couldn’t see how we could afford to. Now I’m beginning to think we can’t afford not to.

  6. Communist countries ALL want to reduce their economic ties to the USA … unless they’re milking us for every last dollar they can. So … communist Canadians want to sever ties with US. Uhhhhh … Dear Mr. Carney … PDJT has already SEVERED TIES with Canada. You wanna STOP selling US oil? Hahahaha ha ha … we’ve already tariffed the shit out of it. We’ve already SLAUGHTERED your automotive business. Dude … you’re the Sever-ee… not the sever-or. We’ve already hollowed out your major manufacturing sector. Go back to promising lots more Free Shit to your majority communist voters. Raise their taxes so you can buy housing for all your incompatible newcomers.

  7. Isn’t Cheap Talk the wireless network the Clintons deployed in Haiti?

Monthly payments accepted in Cash, Ganja or Columbian marching powder.

  8. Effing First Immigrants. I’m about as tired of their whining as I am of the whining of black people who see racism everywhere.

  9. What does “Google Translate” make of Little Lord Carney’s blather?
“National Interest”? What would that be,when read through Ottawa’s eyes?
As for “Redefining our relationship with the USA”?
I believe Kenji has that covered.
    The basic statement of our Pressstitutes;
“Prime Minister Mark Carney, seeking to reduce Canada’s economic ties to the United States,”
Reveals their utter ignorance of commerce and trade.
Our Ignorant Arrogant twits describe Marx Carnage’s intent as if that would be a good thing.
Instead of further impoverishing us as a nation.

    Zero sum game,typical Liberals.
Not increase Canada’s Trade ,so that we are richer, less dependent on trade with our neighbour..
    Oh No.
“Seeking to reduce Canada’s economic ties to the United States.”
These are not the words of an adult.

    WEXIT.
We must separate our affairs from people this wilfully obtuse.

  10. You ungrateful Bad People just aren’t showing any appreciation to our government leaders for convening this meeting to fix all the crap that our government leaders caused.

  11. Anonymous jornolithp at Reuters speaking Liberalese:

… “It can take a decade for a pipeline to get the green light and streamlining the process will offset the damage done by taking a decade for a pipeline to get the green light.”

    “Carney says …”
    “Carney says …”
    “Carney says …”
    “Simon says…”

  12. Greenlighting to gaslighting. It’s all a collectivist charade. They already have their built-in delays and vetoes.
Talk is cheap, except for us supporting the pontificating progressive parasite class. This stinks of delaying tactics.
Danielle Smith, the rest of Albertans and most Westerners will never fall for this shiny object bait and switch.
Only action suffices. I can do the wait and see with the best of them, but this black hole is all too predictable.

  13. Carney will speak in full support of pipelines and will also hand the natives a few billions to block the pipelines.
