If this so-called country can’t clean up its own mess then I hope Trump will order his military to do it for us. There’s no way the US can let this threat continue to fester on its northern border. Trump’s hectoring about the 51st state was a gentle prod that they are aware of the serious problem we’ve become and for us to start doing something about it. Unfortunately, Canadians, being generally dumb as bricks, couldn’t read the subtext and instead fell for a sleazy party’s cynical/faux patriotism. Can’t say we weren’t warned.

There is only one way that we will use our military to “clean up the mess”…and neither of us should hope for it. What would trigger it would be awful for my country, and the repercussions would likely not be very pretty for yours. Suffice to say that your country has been put on notice to get serious for once (and you have not been; this goes back decades); it remains to be seen if you, collectively, finally take the hint. Suffice to say that this is a situation now where the ice is very, very thin.

What was that silly claim about the CBSA only intercepting 41 Kg of fentanyl last year, so therefore Trump was wrong about massive amounts coming into the US from Canada?
Yes, the DEA only seized 41kg at the Canadian Border, but that doesn’t take into account how much wasn’t seized because of the largely open border.

Canada’s job is not to protect Americans from people leaving Canada. We are pretty much of the opinion that people should be able to leave whenever they want. It is the job of the US to restrict entry of unwelcome visitors. Just as the US has not given a damn about people illegally entering Canada, why should Canada give a damn about illegals entering the US?
Also, the US has traditionally been the major source of drugs, entering Canada. Ever hear of the mob in Canada? They were all connected through the New York families. Ever hear of the bikers? All connected through the US.
