No offense to Joe Walsh … who is tremendous … but the lead riff is pure Bernie Leadon. That’s his twangy country sound on the twangy tele. And that’s the only way the song is a hit … pure Bernie Leadon.

BTW … it’s not JUST a Ford. It’s a FLATBED Ford! Now THAT’S the way to write a lyric. Alliteration … and massively descriptive. And an anachronism… a GIRL, my Lord … in a FLATBED Ford. Maybe a girl in a Ford … but a FLATBED Ford!? Now THAT’S a cowgirl.

Eagles Greatest Hits was the first album I bought (I think I was about 10yo). The second was Hotel California! I wonder how much $ JB has banked from that song. Kenji probably knows!
Been there, done that.
We found ourselves there nine years ago after a detour to Winslow to have two stone chips in the windshield repaired (thank you Petrified Forest National Park). There was a non-stop parade of people stopping to have their photo taken at the corner. The town did a nice job with the building facade and Ford truck – not much else happening in Winslow.
End of March on a cross country trip, stopped for gas in Winslow. It was so windy I had to brace myself against the car while filling up. I asked the guy at the register if this much wind is common for spring. He said he did not consider it windy unless the wind blew the dumpster across the parking lot.
