Photoblogging

Last week, I had some friends visit from Chicagoland. One morning, we drove up to Winslow, Arizona, made famous by the song, Take It Easy, written by Jackson Browne for his friends in The Eagles. Here are a few photos from that visit:

    1. No offense to Joe Walsh … who is tremendous … but the lead riff is pure Bernie Leadon. That’s his twangy country sound on the twangy tele. And that’s the only way the song is a hit … pure Bernie Leadon.

Compare the lead riffs … and there’s no comparison … Bernie’s is the original … and the absolute best.

        1. Copyright … gotta $pay$ all those ex-wives …

Here’s a 100% pure Bernie Leadon tune. Guitar AND vocals. This dropped my Freshman year in HS … I was an instant fan. CA-Country-Folk-Rock … the soundtrack of my youth. This is what lp’s delivered … deep cuts and B-sides that are often better than the AM radio hits.

    1. Too funny! Never noticed that. Girl probably flew off the back on a tight turn!

    2. By gum, Kenji, all this time I thought they were singing about a “plastic” Ford. Thank you for opening my ears!

  1. Love these short photo excursions. This one is especially good. Thank you Robert!

Eagles Greatest Hits was the first album I bought (I think I was about 10yo). The second was Hotel California! I wonder how much $ JB has banked from that song. Kenji probably knows!

  2. We found ourselves there nine years ago after a detour to Winslow to have two stone chips in the windshield repaired (thank you Petrified Forest National Park). There was a non-stop parade of people stopping to have their photo taken at the corner. The town did a nice job with the building facade and Ford truck – not much else happening in Winslow.

  3. End of March on a cross country trip, stopped for gas in Winslow. It was so windy I had to brace myself against the car while filling up. I asked the guy at the register if this much wind is common for spring. He said he did not consider it windy unless the wind blew the dumpster across the parking lot.
