    If it’s not fake news it is a good troll. Trump is known to troll from time to time.

      1. A young man, who must be an authourity because he told me in the ‘current day’, that anyone can be elected Pope. He cited the case of an apparently concerned catholic who showed up outside the voting venue to find out who would be the next Pope. When the electors couldn’t agree they decided to chose the Concerned Catholic.

        Therefore, based on this “current day” expert, who could be correct, Trump could be pope. That is, if he is a Catholic in good standing. He could be as JD Vance moves in mysterious ways!

        1. So few people have so little understanding on how the Vatican actually selects a pope.
          First, you must be a Cardinal named by a previous pope, you must not be older than a certain age, who is eligible to vote in a conclave, I think it’s 75 years, and of course, you must be in communion with the church.
          You can’t just walk in off the street and become pope.

          As for the AI image, Bill Krystol asked JD Vance if, as a Catholic, he was in any way at all offended at the image. To which, JD responded by saying something like “I’m more offended at people who start wars than people who make a joke.” I can’t remember the exact quote, but the internet responded in JD’s favor.

          As for myself, speaking as a Catholic, I tend to agree with JD.

          2. I stand corrected, although in practice, the pope is selected by the conclave of Cardinals, so although I will (shockingly) admit that it is possible for a laymen to be selected according to Canon Law, it is not likely to occur in practice.

      I was going to say something along these lines, but you summarized it perfectly. People who are outraged by this – even some on “our side” – are joyless malcontents and probably still wear masks while driving solo in their cars.

  9. I can speak to this – Fake or no fake I actually thought it was rather humorous. That said – I don’t think Trump would do such a thing but if he did…oh well.     1. I take umbrage to offending God. I don’t take any, “offending” the pope. The pope himself did a lot of that by, for example, wearing an Indian head dress last year while visiting Canada to “reconcile.”
