Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick

If you want a new country, you might just get one.
Now is the time for statesmen and leaders to come to the fore and present a realistic vision of a new country comprised of those regions of former Canada that wish to work together to form a alliance that relies on the idea of fairness and the reward for hard work. Limiting the powers of government and big money to influence government. Allowing the freedom of families to prosper and grow according to their own desires. A nation that is compassionate without being foolish when it comes to aid for the disadvantaged. The ultimate freedom should be en-capsuled in the question “Are you stuck or do you want to be there”. The assumption being you want to be there because it is resting on the freedom to be exactly where you are.
Hear! Hear! Very well said
The notion of an independent West or Alberta or Saskatchewan or “Buffalo” or whatever way you want to describe it transcends regional complaints or alienation. It is a fundament belief that people can thrive when they are free. Free to engage in commerce with one another. Able to speak freely. To live their life without intrusive meddling and control. That people can work and retain the fruits of their labor while providing a true helping hand to those that may need assistance. A belief that ALL our created equal and that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. Our current benighted Dominion provides none of this currently and only a degradation of the ability of its own citizens to thrive and live freely.
I am looking for an organizing convention to attend
Absolutely. It is foolish in the extreme to simply rail against the machine without a plan to lead into a new place and nation. Yeah we are all mad at Canada but to simply run a referendum on replacing Canada without anything to replace Canada with is a fool’s errand. Even if the referendum passes it will be like a dog that finally catches the car.
I’ve been saying it for years. Alberta, Saskatchewan, and part or whole of Manitoba, at least to the Hudson’s Bay and James Bay, the northern half of Ontario at least as far south as to a great lake so as to have access to the St Lawrence Seaway, and a part of British Columbia that gets us to the Pacific Ocean, all joining together will become the richest country on planet Earth.
Forget about joining the United States.
And don’t forget Yukon and NW Territories. Kitimat and Prince Rupert would welcome the opportunity to become major port cities, and Bob’s your uncle.
And why shouldn’t Premier Moe allow the citizens to have their say on the matter. If the people decide to reject separation and maintain the status quo then so be it. At least he won’t stand in the way. Of course the provincial NDP and their obnoxious, shrill and perpetually offended leader, Carla Beck are horrified by the suggestion that ordinary Saskatchewanians be allowed to decide. This goes against their belief that only big government is able to make decisions regardless of what the commoners might want.
Carla doesn’t understand how democracies work. But I suppose that’s true of most of governments.
Good, I hope Saskatchewan has a referendum on the same day as Alberta. The two provinces are basically twins with complimentary economies and similar political leanings.
I read an interesting opinion on social media a few days back. The opinion was that if Alberta called a referendum on separation it would cause the Canadian dollar and the stock market to significantly decline. The reasoning is that the Alberta economy is such a massive net contributor to the Canadian economy, has the highest gdp per capita and its petroleum products are the largest, most valuable export. If this is true, then it’s in the Canadian government’s best interest to prevent a referendum from even being called. Not sure if the same applies to Saskatchewan even though it is also a major exporter of goods and has a much higher gdp per capita than other provinces, second to Alberta IIRC.
Does this mean that even a credible threat of a referendum should get the Liberal government to reconsider its anti-energy, anti-Alberta policies?
So it should come as no surprise that fake conservatives come out of the woodwork to decry separation and demonize those who advocate for it as being unintelligent, extremist, and a tiny fringe minority.
The homosexual lying Jesuit (though I repeat myself) Jason Kenney comes to mind.
LC, the dollar is already starting to decline. I just bought more USD yesterday and it had already fallen.01 cents. Look for more collapse. Like Hemingway would say about going broke “slowly then all of a sudden”. The US dollar is not the best either, and I would say gold. I expect to see another drop in the stock market soon.
I haven’t agree though, if Alberta decides to go then CAD/USD will go to 0.50 cents overnight. Look for a .60 cent dollar after Carney starts to print money.
I’m honestly not sure what currency is the best bet right now. Perhaps hard assets or precious metals. Though gold has been declining recently. Currencies, commodities, real estate and stocks all seem to be unstable at the moment.
Study Bitcoin
Gold will rebound. It always does. I’ve been watching gold prices for the past year, and yes, it’s currently on the decline… _after_ it hit yet another record-breaking high.
I’m thinking a 3-4 month consolidation of gold after the run up then, up we go again. I wish I was smart enough to understand and trust Bitcoin.
The Northern Peso would collapse. The whole notion of “If you leave you have to take your share of the national debt” is ridiculous.
I say we take ALL of the national debt on two conditions:
1>We get all of Northern BC
2> The debt is denominated in the Northern Peso. The collapse in the Northern Peso would be so significant we could pay it ALL off with a bottle drive on the Saturday after the independence celebration.
If you take any credence to what the APP is saying, It’s actually Canada that owes Alberta money.
We’ll see how this shakes down — if we even get to that point.
Of course canaduh owes Alberta money. How many billions in equalization, the cpp etc.? Funny how the East doesn’t see that. Kinda like at the restaurant when the bill comes
Just ONE DAY after the reduction in the numbers required to trigger a referendum in Alberta one pro-referendum organization already has more than enough(over 200,000) to comply.
The only thing holding them back is that the bill with the new regulation wont be voted in until July and then there is a waiting period (60 days??>?) According to one of the organizers they could go ahead with a referendum tomorrow if allowed.
Sask. is also interested and one report (isn;t the alternate media-Juno New,Rebel News,Western Standard. etc wonderful-no more re-lying on CBC,CTV global) says that B.C is also interested in a Western Alliance. Not sure of Manitoba.
This is serious folks . Carney may had won the election on the Trump threat but the real threat is now appearing.
Yep, https://albertaprosperityproject.com
If you’re an Albertan, go sign up.
Here’s the link to the Saskatchewan citizen-led petition to trigger a plebiscite.

I believe “Take Back Alberta” is running the petition referenced above. I know some folks are a little leery of TBA because of its social positions but I want to join the team that will have something in place in time for the October Civic elections.
I don’t do the social network things and I’ve had a beast of a time to find their website.
Did so yesterday, and sent to my circle of friends
Link?
Already have.
I don’t think that they care if Canada breaks up. I think that was the plan all along. We can call April 29/2025 Canada’s vote to walk on the Road To Serfdom.
L- “Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him. Let my people go…”. Exodus 9:1-7
It worked for an enslaved people, for those of them, the ones who had the courage to answer
the call to adventure. To overcome challenges. To learn how to be a self governing people and
how to live as a free people under moral law. Our ancestors, men and women of uncommon valour, were inspired by such a vision
Or to live on our knees serving the Dark *Triad ?
*(pun intended)
Larry the second part of 9:1-7 is “let my people go and worship me in the wilderness “. I think we shall be in the wilderness now for many generations as we try to reestablish western Christian civilization.
Let’s not kid ourselves. Carrying your analogy further, the Jews suffered tremendously during the Exodus. Make no mistake… there will be some hardship during the first few years of independence, but the long-term gain that will come with independence cannot be ignored.
The destruction of the country is just what they want to happen. This is a feature not a bug as the kids say.
I find it so strange the chummy relationship between Carney and Trump immediately after the election. It was all pre planned.
L – Jc. The Trump Administration has a complete file on Mark Carny, as they do on all major figures, who have deep financial ties to China. The Brookfield investment in real estate in China. Then being re-financed by the state bank of China??? There is a reason that Canada is
no longer trusted by four of the Five Eyes Anglo-sphere group.
Trump has been briefed thoroughly on the C.C.P. Infiltration of Canadian federal, provincial and even municipal politics. He believes in the old proverb “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”.
Trump knew that Justin was only a messenger boy for the W.E.F. Cabal. Hanging precariously
with a minority government, Carny will face the political heat of the worsening recession.
Any increasing economic harm will attach to Carny as more both skilled workers and investment heads south. With almost 10 percent and growing living in poverty, increasing chaos is on the
horizon. Scary, yes justifiably so. Be Not Afraid !
Protecting the U.S. from C.C.P. threats via security organized crime, fentanyl, et al, while regenerating manufacturing, until the U. S. can fend off China in all directions. That is the priority. The big picture.
If the Conservatives get elected with a majority within the proverbial 18 months. They have a chance of getting a second term and maybe doing more than just slowing down the decline.
Trump can destroy Carny any time he chooses and Carny knows that. Being P. M. is an ego addition to his résumé. The faux Climate Crisis motif is a fading fashion.
You could tell that this was just resume building for Carney the night of the election when he and his lovely wife were dancing like epileptic fools. They were trying to emulate “elbows up” but they didn’t really understand the meaning because they are not from her and I am sure they don’t want to be here.
I envy you AB/SK folks. At least you have a way out of this idiotic country. If I were any younger, I’d seriously consider relocating to AB and voting for separation. But alas…
If it fails, I would try to move to the US. My son has just graduated from College there and has found himself a very nice American girl.
It has truly broken my heart to tell him he needs to stay in the US as there is no opportunity for him here as things stand right now.
Maybe they can let me sleep in the basement?
I told my son in the garage today when he came home for lunch that he has to move to the US. Canada is over. The vote is in and this was the logical end to Liberal policies. I had a tear in my eye knowing I had to send him off. It reminded me of the scene in How Green Was My Valley where all the boys had to leave to all parts of the empire because there was no more work in the colliery.
It is crushing to me that a land that has such abundance is purposefully and deliberately destroying the ability of its citizens to prosper.
Any normal parent wants their children to lead happy, healthy, productive lives and to do better than they did. The only possibility I see for my son to achieve that is in the US.
I’ve managed to relocate to Alberta, and I’m in my early 60’s. Much easier than trying to immigrate to the US. Yes, there will be some hardship, but it’s certainly worth the effort.
If separation succeeds, be sure to call your new country something cool like “English Speaking White People of the North.”
Off the top of my head… Albritsaskitoba.
Would be receptive to suggestions.
(What??? Too many syllables?)
…Now for the flag. Any ideas?
I remember a skit a long time ago… I think it was on a Wayne and Shuster special… about Baffin Island declaring independence. The winning anthem was sung to the tune of God Save the King, with the only lyrics being “Baffin Island.” flag was a solid white banner.
FC, you are dating yourself. I remember when I was a little boy watching Wayne and Schuster and not being able to control my laughter. The world was so innocent in my eyes back then. Oh well, good bye until we meet again
I’ve dated myself often enough on these pages, so no worries there.
Yes, the good ol’ days of watching Wayne & Shuster on the Ceeb…
We were all so innocent back then.
Here’s the Western Canadian Flag.
I’m very disappointed in Premier Scott Moe ! He and the Saskatchewan Party should be leading the vote to Separate! ( Like Premier Smith of Alberta)
And for the NDP Carla Beck , she is completely out of touch !
Saskatchewan and the West have been used and Abused all my Life ! Separation is our only hope!
Patience, Keith.
Smith and Moe are handling the question the best way possible. They cannot come off too strongly in favor of independence, or the Central government will come down on them HARD; portraying them both as “fringe” (and that would be the best thing they would say). “Treason” and “sedition” would be the commentary from the media, and the west would be alienated from any further negotiations. Already we’re hearing pshaw comments (like from Jason Kenney [the weasel] for example), poo-pooing the initiative, saying that it’s not what the mainstream wants.
So by playing the neutral card, allowing Citizen Initiatives, the two leaders figure that they can let the public have their say. It’s democratic, it’s constitutional, and the leaders back east are having a bit of trouble trying to get control of the narrative, and Smith and Mo lose very little political capital. It’s the right strategy by Smith and Mo.
