This is the election where Canada moves decisively to a two party, end stage democracy (See Alexander Tytler’s thesis) where the left and loons have gone to their fascist home in the LPC where 60% of the deranged dominion’s voters (including the mindless mushy middle) now reside, “Conservative” government is unlikely now until the country breaks up into more logical and natural segments.
Make elections binary again. The multi-platform ‘democracies’ is what is destroying Europe and Canada.
I don’t think they’re bad per se, but the implementation sucks. First past the post is always the wrong choice (IMO), and it should come down to a runoff when there’s no majority winner. It’s much better than the “alternate choice” method, which we’ve seen can have some weird consequences. It also takes little modification of our system, in that we’d have a delay between election day and assumption of power, but that’s not a bad thing overall.
I hope for a minority gov’t.

In about 2010 area I’d heard there are +100k American citizens here in Calgary, perhaps most employed in the oil and gas sector, but I wouldn’t advocate for the entirety of the country joining the USA as one province, or the Atlantic provinces at all, unless the USA needs another Puerto Rico but with far less attractive women folk.
Years ago, I used to speak with a fellow ham who lived in southern Montana. He swapped stories about things like weather and, indeed, geographically, we in Alberta have a lot in common with that part of the U. S.
What he said was true for all Canadians, but it is with the knowledge that most react rather, stridently, against it. Words have effect. We’ll have to wait and see what the outcome of those words will be.

Re Marx Carney’s favorite slogan “Trump wants to break us so he can own us”. It contains several lies/idiotic statements:
– No one wants to break an asset before owning that asset. Everyone in real estate/finance knows this. Even more so for countries.
– Trump doesn’t want to “own” Canada. He wants Canada to be a functional economy able to defend itself and not be penetrated by China.
– What “us”? He pretends to be “us” while he worked full-time in UK. And when he part-timed for Canada, he advised Prime Moron Trudeau on how to borrow&spend more. So what “us”? I’m no “us” with this guy.
Loved Canada so much he went shopping for two more passports. They won’t even say which jurisdiction he filed his income taxes in last year. I’d be surprised if him and the missus don’t own residences in UK, Canada, US and somewhere very tax favourable.
Maybe he will find a way to have his income paid in the Isle of Man. Not only favourable corporate tax, but I believe the personal tax rate is good, but not as good as Monaco. Either way, we are screwed, he isn’t.
The BBC is covering this election which seems unusual. The BBC used to have more credibility until they resorted to CBC news coverage during the covid convoy protest. Speculation only, but the BBC pundits much have some inside information about the ‘European’ Carney’s integration plans for Canada with the European Union (WEF anybody?)
The BBC is interested because the former Governor of the Bank of England has become Prime Minster of Canada by a somewhat irregular process and is running for election to the job. That’s enough of a story for them to cover, whatever else they make of it.
NDP gets crushed and deservedly so.
So this will be the FIRST world referendum on Trump’s Presidency? When Carney is swept to power … THAT will be seen as a stern rebuke of Trump! Right?
Some predictions are laughably easy to make.
Regardless of which party forms government, we are all losers. A lot of us know what needs to be done but at a scale much larger than what GEOTUS is doing down south.

I’ve been pounding this drum for years and I know in most cases I’m preaching to the choir but here it is again. The last national government that:
a) controlled the press and media.(More money for the CBC)
b) controlled academia,(no example needed)
c) banned guns (no example needed)
d) advocated for the death of ‘useless eaters, (read MAID here)
e) advocated for internment of the non-compliant and ‘others’, (What are we to do with ‘THESE’ people)
landed us in a World War.
The similarities could not be more obvious. we had better study and understand history or we surely will repeat it.
I stated here years ago Liberals are nothing more than NAZIs in clown suits, well the clown suits have been discarded for the original Hugo Boss attire.
I voted at my local community center (in Toronto) which was a voting location for about 16-20 polling areas.
I had to wait because the Ballot Box for my poll was missing. From what I could tell, at least 3 ballot boxes were missing and they were doubling up polls. It could have been more, but with how crowded it was there was no way for me to walk around and count.
In the 1972 election there were many reports of full ballot boxes being found. A couple of boxes were apparently found in a helicopter two weeks after election day. The count then was very close and it took almost three weeks of recounting to determine the PET Lieberals squeezed a very small minority win. Then PET imposed Stanfield’s Wage and Price Freeze that the Lieberals campaigned against.
“Zap you’re frozen” … then immediately imposed the same garbage plan, which never works.

In my riding, it doesn’t really matter because it goes either Lieberal or Dipper so my vote isn’t going to matter, but it was just the idea of perhaps 1 in 7 boxes or worse being missing and if that is more widespread it could turn around most election.
I gave all the details as a tip to Juno News, so they know the riding, the voting location, the poll number and which substitute poll ballot box my area poll was added to.
The stock market is up this morning, which might mean that investors are anticipating a Conservative win. Mind you, the day isn’t over…..
Thanks to the collapse of the NDP, I’m predicting a Liberal minority. Going forward, we may see the complete dissolution of the NDP as the membership has got to be wondering if it’s worth resurrecting the party at this point. In the short term at least, that means that socialist voters will stick with the Liberals. Not good for Canada.

I have a friend in Bhutila Karpoche’s riding who told me when she knocked on his door, she told him that she was hoping to replace Jagmeet because of her intelligence and that she is so “photogenic”. He felt that she was implying that Singh is neither.
He told me she did nothing as an Ontario NDP MPP and when he went to one of her public meetings, she started off by trashed Canada as being a remnant of British imperial colonialism and after her ode to the multiple aboriginal people it supposedly belonged to she said Canada is now the property of the world. He walked quietly out of the meeting in a way to make sure everybody saw it.
I have found him in the past to be reliable, so we might want to watch for her name.
If you look up her picture online she seems to be attractive (if it isn’t a very old picture), but that is no reason to vote for somebody, and it seems to imply she is a narcissist.

I mentioned this the other day. I’m sure that if our planned manufacturing build out progresses satisfactorily that we will be needing skilled factory workers and tradesmen. There would be no reason not to allow immigration into the country from Canada and Europe for people who meet those qualifications. They will have to be properly vetted of course, but some of our housing markets will be in need of buyers plus all of the things mentioned in my President’s latest comment: more freedom, fewer taxes, definitely more individual rights — a place to start/raise a family.
And it isn’t as though business between the two countries is going to go away; the terms may just be a bit different.

For me the key issue in any Canadian election is the use of Dominion tabulating machines.
No scanner tabulators used. Federal elections are paper only. So no programming the software to flip every second CPC or PPC vote to Lieberal.

I mentioned this the other day. I’m sure that if our planned manufacturing build out progresses satisfactorily that we will be needing skilled factory workers and tradesmen. There would be no reason not to allow immigration into the country from Canada and Europe for people who meet those qualifications. They will have to be properly vetted of course, but some of our housing markets will be in need of buyers plus all of the things mentioned in my President’s latest comment: more freedom, fewer taxes, definitely more individual rights — a place to start/raise a family.
And it isn’t as though business between the two countries is going to go away; the terms may just be a bit different.

PP should have gone a different way.
He should have said “Trump is right, we’re weak, we’re broke, our borders are porous, we’re letting in many enemies of the West, and we’ve been spurning our neighbor out of partisanship and misplaced pride. We ought to be talking to Trump, making plans with Trump, and trying to turn our country around for everyone’s sake.”
But he was scared that Carney’s newly-discovered patriotism would win the day, and so he joined in.

YES. Exactly. Anyone who seriously, really believes that Canada can somehow ‘fight’ Donald Trump is either delusional or immature (or both). Trump is never going to ‘respect’ this mythical strength we keep talking about, because he knows full well that we simply don’t have any; “Elbows Up!” is just a joke we are playing on ourselves. What he *will* respect is an honest effort to fix the things that are clearly broken between us.
