Last November, The Royal Kona Coffee Company was paying local growers just over US$2/lb for green beans.
If Canada did produce coffee, no matter what, it would be weak.
But dark. Very, very Dark.
Perhaps they could utilize the same old mine shafts near Flin Flon Manitoba where they first grew government approved marijuana.
I don’t mind paying $100 a pound for coffee if it’s made in Canader! It’s the loyal thing to do!

That is still a bargain IF (and this is a big one) you drink your coffee at home. I am a “me, myself and I” household and a 900 gram can lasts me 6 weeks (2 mugs of coffee at breakfast). This is much cheaper than buying a Starbucks or Tim Horton’s coffee every morning. I do not eat out as often now and only bring in take-out food occasionally. Yes, it is a bummer, but I am retired and am on a pretty tight budget.

Not a chance. Roasting beans releases that most horrible of all world- destroying toxins, carbon dioxide. Any company that tried to produce coffee in Canada would be bankrupted by the Gaia-worshipping, scientifically ignorant chiliastic left who still believe that paying taxes can change the weather.

Call me crazy but I can’t even buy Folgers or Hills Brothers for $4.05 a pound.
I don’t mind the idea of hothouse coffee. No more “fair trade”, “shade grown” bullshit. No more Juan Valdez growing my coffee. Nope. Now it will be the same guy who manages the government marijuana grow houses. Yep. Coffee is my drug of choice. My “medicine”
So it will be a money losing proposition, or there’s no economic case for it (per JT)!

I can tell you with some solid confidence that the next new riser in the coffee trade is going to be Argentina. Their northern border is perfect for it…as Bolivia has demonstrated. Additionally, Argentina already has equipment and cleared areas to jumpstart the business. They had played around with it in the past in Yungas (which is at the foot of the Andes) but it never took hold in their past poor economic state. Throw in the fact that Argentina is saturated with Italian immigrants and you can bet that things are about to change in an Espresso type of way.
