  1. The election in Oz sadly sounds like here. Is the United States the only western nation left with the confidence to still have some stones? The question answers itself. Australia and Canada don’t have a Trump like figure because they are not worthy of one.

    1. Pretty much, yeah.

      Daily now I have that despairing feeling of wishing I could go back to when I barely gave a crap about politics. When I didn’t know how rotten the federal governing structure of Canada truly is. How corrupt the Liberals are. How incestuous the relationships between the Liberals and so many of our institutions are. How blissfully ignorant so many Canadians are of the true state of the country, how they happily line up to vote Liberal, again, because “Elbows up!” and “Trump sucks!” and “no Maple MAGA!” and “Cons are too Trumpy!” and “Poilievre is too scary!” and blah blah blah.

      As said in the Matrix… “Why, oh why, didn’t I take the BLUE pill?”

      Weak man have created bad times, and those times can & will get a lot worse before they can start getting better, I think. If they even can, now.

      1. Too many Kanadians worship the government. As the halfrican said, “Government is the answer.” This new heathen religion allows very evil people to get in charge, which is the inevitable reward for government worship.

    2. Been thinking about moving to Oz from Canada, as a retiree. I’ve been there 5 times on vacation, and I have a sibling there. The nation in some ways is as f#@$%d as Canada, or approaching it, for many of the same reasons.

      But at least you don’t have to shovel snow in winter.

Correct here in Australia we live in a Uniparty state where around 80% of the population for the radical left ( Greens), Centre Left ( Labor) or the suppossed conservatives who are really soft left just right of Labor ( Liberals). Only about 20% of people are awake to what is happening. Ironically the same number who didnt get jabbed.

    2040? Many parts of this policy have already been implemented and are bearing fruit.

    I took a drive through downtown cold & drizzling Toronto at night a couple weeks ago – I thought I was driving through the set of the Bladerunner movie or some other dystopian nightmare.

    Sirens and flashing lights, drug addicts, crumbling streets, random tents in parks, boarded shops…

    2. So, it was Vance that killed those kids. And not the guys that refused to end the war, thus ensuring that more kids would die? If Ukraine can’t defend its own children, what business has it fighting? Doesn’t it need peace at literally any price?

    Welcome to the 3rd world. I’d argue we’re out of 1st world status and have now dipped to “developing” status. We are headed to where they want to bring us very quickly.

        Not at all. Opinions here are quite diverse, and most of us are quite tolerant of opposing viewpoints (not a lot of Liberals here, thankfully)…but they have to be based on facts. Not fantasy, ignorance, bigotry or hatred. As roaddog has just wisely stated, rationality is not an unreasonable request.
