Roger Pielke Jr.- Trump Comes for Climate Research
Flash forward to now — the Trump Administration has announced that it has canceled the contract of the federal contractor that the USGCRP delegated responsibility to for overseeing the creation of the next assessment report. That does not mean that a report cannot be created — as you can see in the budget table above, there are billions of dollars appropriated to the USGCRP, and an assessment is inexpensive to conduct.

End. The. Endangerment. Finding. … Period.
Co2 is NOT endangering the planet. No serious science has proven that. Flawed Computer Models have predicted danger. It’s scientific rubbish.
Stop WASTING $$$ that can be used studying new energy technologies and cleaning up REAL pollution.
The best solution, which he doesn’t consider, is to stop producing this multibillion dollar report that doesn’t serve anyone, and isn’t really read by anyone.
Yeah… no. How about no? Millions and billions and trillions in funding hasn’t helped the climate.
Cut the funding and leave it cut. With all due respect to the author, he says we would have to create the IPCC if it didn’t exist today, but again, no. How about no? Cut off this path to rule by technocrats.
“[…] as you can see in the budget table above, there are billions of dollars appropriated to the USGCRP […]”
I’ll do it for $1.2 billion. I’ll do a good job and look at the money the gummint will save.
(Don’t try to undercut me by offering to do it for $900 million. You know who you are.)
But how will the Farallons Institute get paid $$$$?
Roger, the issue is that Trump has figured out what most of us who have been working in this field for more than two decades have understood for at least that long: the science follows the money. Whenever government subsidizes science, the science will produce what government wants. This is especially true of non-goal-oriented “pure research” in an inherently squishy field like “climate science”. If the government subsidizes disaster prognostications and starves research that doesn’t prognosticate disaster, guess where the science goes?
This is known as “decision-based evidence making” and it is the nature of EVERY so-called “government science” organization (remember NIH, CDC, and every other “government medical” organization during the Chinese Virus Of Unspecified Origin? Every last one of them served up “science” that was a pastiche of lies). You can no more escape from politicized science than you can escape from gravity. But you CAN starve it by shutting off the tap. God willing, this is just the beginning and Trump and Elon will eventually tear the whole corrupt edifice down, and salt the earth.
With all due respect, Trodwell, one does not need to be an “expert” or even work in the field to know that this has been one great big lie from the onset.
More than two brain cells to rub together and the ability to read is all that is required.
“the issue is that Trump has figured out what most of us who have been working in this field for more than two decades have understood for at least that long: the science follows the money. Whenever government subsidizes science, the science will produce what government wants. ”
If only we could get this idea publicized by the mainstream news media. Well said.
