To cite just one example of what’s been going on, an investigation last year by auditor general Karen Hogan of the now-disbanded, $1-billion Sustainable Development Technology Fund, which audited just a sampling of the projects it funded, found 90 cases where conflict-of-interest rules were not followed in awarding $76 million worth of government contracts and 10 cases where $56 million was awarded to ineligible projects.

According to the IPCC’s latest comprehensive “Assessment Report”: “For every 1000 GtCO2 emitted by human activity, global surface temperature rises by 0.45°C (best estimate, with a likely range from 0.27°C to 0.63°C).”

Translated to more commonly used metrics, this is a very broad “likely” range of 0.00000027°C to 0.00000063°C temperature impact per megatonne (Mt) CO₂ emitted. The science is not settled. Canada’s total emissions in 2022 were 548 Mt. This means that we warmed the globe by 0.000148°C to 0.000345°C, or 1°C per 2897 to 6759 years.
IPCC’s “best estimate” (0.00000045°C) gives Canada’s impact at 0.000247°C or 1°C in 4055 years.

I’m not a great fan of the politicians associated with the IPCC, although the Working Group I scientists’ output is generally pretty good.
What I’m trying to convey here is that EVEN THE IPCC agrees that the the impact of Canadian emissions on temperature is trivial and that the billions wasted amount to pissing into the wind.
This country doesn’t need an election, it needs a revolution.
