    1. Maybe Bush and the Joos could help me design some shaped charges to take down that tired old 1960’s architecture

  1. “IMO Makes History with First Global Carbon Pricing Scheme for Shipping…” – NOT!

This bullshit headline is 180 degrees from the truth:
Sixteen countries (including the US) opposed it and twenty six countries abstained.
So in other words, the “First Global Carbon Pricing Scheme for Shipping” will never happen. It’s dead on arrival!

But hey, why let the truth get in the way of a good fairy tale?

    1. “The vote revealed significant divisions, with 63 countries including major players like China, the EU, India, and Japan supporting the measure, while 16 countries, predominantly petro-states, opposed it. Twenty-five countries, including several Pacific Island nations, abstained.”

“The United States withdrew from the climate talks altogether and threatened “reciprocal measures” against any fees charged to U.S. ships.”

      Some sanity remains.

  2. That article is like a schlocky movie that’s unintentionally funny. First off, I searched to see what the IMO considers a renewable energy for ocean going ships. The answer is methanol. Which is curious, because Methanol is just a form of Liquid Natural Gas. But, to be honest, I’m surprised they aren’t recommending sailing ships.

Then there is this little beauty: “The measure is expected to generate $30-40 billion by 2030, averaging $10 billion annually, to support clean energy initiatives in shipping.”

Where’s that money going to end up? You can bet the IMO gets a nice chunk. Since the IMO is as inconsequential and self-interested as any other UN specialized agency you can count on that money ending up in the wrong pockets. I, also, noticed that China jumped on board to support this effort, which means their pockets are going to be lined. Hell, they have fishing fleets of over 3,500 + boats traveling the world right at this moment poaching other country’s fishing rights.

The article, also, quotes someone from Opportunity Green. I had to look and see what they are. I wish I hadn’t. They are a UK charity organization who claims expertise on Climate issues. The photos in the “About Us” section are very plentiful and informative. I now know how everyone prefers their pronouns. But, of the 20 or so employees of the Climate Expert non-government agency, not one has a background in any form of science. They are all lawyers, policy wonks, and self-important nit wits.

    I love schlock.

    1. Comparing methanol to LNG is tenuous, at best. Methanol is an alcohol, ethane, the primary constituent of LNG is an alkane.

      1. Regardless, they will be taxing LNG too – just a delay to allow for a transition (presumably from shipping to starvation).

    2. The money will go to hold more luxury meetings in resort communities, where they will craft more measures of graft, corruption and outright theft. De-industrializing to the point where the “little people” have to live in sod huts is worth it.

  3. I read somewhere about a week ago that the UN was proposing to tax shipping.
So I have to ask who is/are collecting these fees?
If it is indeed the UN, then we are one step closer to global tyranny.
    — the REAL fc!

    1. They didn’t. Last I read was that it was being negotiated by member countries.
Looks like they went well past the negotiation stage.

      –the REAL fc.

  4. Mencken “Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.”
    The cycles repeat.
Soft times make soft stupid men,who act as fools and bring hard times upon all.
The UN ,the EU and all the other groups of entitled parasites are fair game.
They make no secret of their lust for power and their desire to live large at your expense.
What good have these organizations brought us?
What planet wide problems have they mitigated, effected or changed?
Seems to me the have made things far worse than they need to be.

Look to the destruction and retardation of progress that Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming (Now known as Climate Change) has wrought upon Africa..
Making sure those poor brown people have no reliable electricity, hence no benefit of the technologies of this civilization..

The IPCC being one of the most successful frauds ever.
Useless Nutjobs and dangerous wankers ..
Let us ensure they get to live, what they preach .

  5. Being opposed to Trump tariffs but not to these UN fees can be summed up as follows.
Why does no one oppose China building more coal fired power plants? Because China is already communist.
    The same logic applies.
