The Libranos: Bedfellas

Thread by @SNewmanPodcast;

Two powerful men secretly orchestrated Canada’s financial destiny for over a decade.

One was caught in a MASSIVE money laundering scandal.

The other just became Prime Minister.

No one’s talking about their connection. Until now…

Frank McKenna: TD Bank’s Deputy Chair since 2006.

Mark Carney: Former Bank of England Governor.

One stayed in boardrooms. The other now controls Canada’s government.

But they intersected at one crucial place that changed everything: Brookfield Asset Management.

  1. That feeling you get when the answers are all yes and yet you know Ontario is still going to vote for him anyway….

    1. They might. Early days, Pierce, early days…

The reflexively-leftist Toronto Wine Moms might vote as you suggest – i.e., the type of bubble-dwelling, “private equity wife”-type (“dont call me that! I have my very own husband-subsidized, money-losing “decorating” business! [it distracts me from my husband’s multiple affairs]) that watches, trusts and believes the mainstream media (esp. the CBC; Toronto Wine Moms love their CBC radio!); the types that thrice voted us into the economic Lost Decade we’ve just experienced, and believe that because Mark Carney is “smart” that he can be “tough” with Trump and negotiate us out of this mess we’ve largely gotten ourselves into (one day I promise to write a thoughtful essay about Canadian white menopausal and perimenopausal Canadian women’s obsessive and extreme Trump Derangement Syndrome).

I can see THESE types voting Liberal. But that isn’t everyone.

The Conservatives need to fight this one. If they channel Truman’s 1948 besting of Dewey all should come together. Again, Jenni Byrne, I’m ready to talk strategy if you want to hire Strauss. My offer remains open

  2. I don’t know if this is true or not, but i know Libranos don’t go to jail in corrupt Canada. When you own the government, the cops (mounties are cheap because they’re stupid) and the courts, it’s a safe place to be a crook.

  3. Is the Trump gang waiting until after election day to issue the arrest warrant? Or maybe the day before?

  4. Too bad the average Canadian is too busy giving each other self congratulatory reach arounds and shouting “ELBOWS UP” to both to connect the dots. That the Orange Man is Bad is the only thing they need to know.

    1. Just remember that anyone yelling “elbows up” is a paid #Fiberal stooge and you’ll be fine. Everything going on for #CarkMarney right now is astroturf.

      1. FACT: An incumbent party runs on its record. The federal Liberals cannot possibly run on their record, so they are running against the USA – i.e., “Trump’s America”, are capitalizing on the Canadian center-left’s how-shall-I-say “ambivalent” feeling towards the US and are smearing anyone who disagrees with them as anathematic, traitorous, Trump-fellating lackeys

THIS SOUNDBITE NEEDS TO BE REPEATED OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN UNTIL ELECTION DAY.

        Please pass it on…

  5. Bye-bye, Canada. I’m gonna miss ya when you’re gone. The utopia the Globalist Evil Bastards have in store sounds lovely. It’ll be a scorched Earth hell, but it sounds lovely.

OTOH, there is a chance that ‘twixt Saskatchewan and Alberta, the US might have to make room for around 4 or 5 new stars on our flag. It’s all up to those provinces, though.

Contrary to your lying, fearmongering, government bought-and-paid-for [*ahem*] unbiased jurinalists, nobody from south of the border is going to march on Canada in a hot war. We’re just waiting to see what y’all want to do and we’ll go from there.

    1. “… nobody from south of the border is going to march on Canada in a hot war …

      It wouldn’t be a march; more of a cakewalk…

    2. America would be wise to just let Canada crash and burn, then when the people are finally fed up after waking up to all the corruption and kleptocracy, and the country disintegrates as a result, America can just walk right in and pick up the pieces without any resistance. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised, if it got to that point, that the Americans would be welcomed as liberators.

      1. Canadians will never get wise to or fed up with the kleptocracy as long as the free health care continues, the cheques keep rolling in, and there is a progressive tax system. The place will eventually fizzle out. It won’t die because there are too many resources. And no one will be the wiser, just immeserably poorer and much less free. But freedom is not a core Canadian value like beer, hockey, and disdain, of course, for Americans, whom we are much better, smarter, and kinder than.
As Americans say, this is the most critical election in a generation.

  6. “In this pioneering work, Gustavus Myers lays bare the corruption, swindling, land deals, and bribery that are at the basis of Canadian history. This is Canada’s past seen through the eyes of a muckraker, and in it the heroes of other histories appear in quite a different light.

This book was first published in 1914–in the United States. It has never before been published in Canada. Canadian historians have mostly ignored, suppressed, or mocked it. But history is not the preserve of apologists for big business and the political parties, and A History of Canadian Wealth is certain to be widely read and recognized at last as a classic.

A landmark revisionist history of Canada, A History of Canadian Wealth remains as lively and startling as it was when first published.”

    1. Would you agree by laundering all that fentanyl money TD is complicite in the deaths of thousands of North Americans and therefore Frank M himself. No arrests, no prison time, just a fine. Although quite substantial, just a small percentage of their total take.
Canada has turned into a very different country in many ways.
