How To Deter Violent Idiots?

Hmm… let me think.

Global- More Loblaw employees to wear body cameras across Canada, company says

“Early results from our pilot suggest body-worn cameras may help reduce violent incidents, but a broader, longer-term evaluation across more stores and banners is needed to assess their full impact,” they told Global News in a statement.

“Only trained asset protection representatives, third-party security, store management and additional team members where applicable will be wearing the cameras, and participation in this pilot is voluntary. Colleagues are also trained to verbally inform those around them when turning on the body-worn camera,” they said.

  1. I guess they will get a closeup view of how much Loblaws employees steal and slack off.

  2. Cameras are worthless when nobody gets prosecuted.
Or corporate security in charge of the tapes just doesn’t show up in court, leaving the poor clerk/security guy to be torn apart by some scumbag defense attorney.

  3. What they’re not talking about is how they’ll actually use this technology to help politicians like Carney introduce “social credit” scores to control citizen behaviour (like in China). Complain to a Loblaws employee and have your banking and other purchases affected. You can’t even go through self-checkout without being harangued by staff for not emptying out your basket fast enough so they can take it away.

  4. Gonna change my shopping patterns.
A couple of months back I collected those little stamps at Superstore, with the intention of buying – YEAH, BUYING some cooking pots at a reduced price.
Well, now I have a couple of form things full of stamps, but no pots are available. Maybe next month? Sure!
Won’t fall for that one again.
    Crooked Ba$tard$

  5. “trained asset protection representatives” WTF is that? How about a couple of bouncers with baseball bats? Aim for the shins, miss and hit the knees.

  6. Body camera, yeah that’s the solution. What was different in the before times? Before “food banks”

Shame. Imprisonment. Pride. Consequences. Where did those things come from?

This is what you do when your lawyers tell you you must do something, anything, to make the rubes think you care. It doesn’t have to work, it just has to look like it could.

If the government continues to encourage crime and import criminals from abroad, all supermarkets will switch to a order delivery model. Customers will stand outside and accept their groceries through an armored hole in the wall. Probably a robotic system, so they can fire all those employees they pretend to care about.

      1. Now that’s a potential Ontario country music classic: “I’m In Love With The Beer Store Model”.
