  1. I would have thought that area would be crawling with backhoes, loaders and dump trucks by now.

Let me introduce you to the entity known as the California Coastal Commission. Adam Carolla mentioned that their sole purpose is to make you leave. That’s it, full stop.

      1. Not to quibble with Adam Corolla who clearly knows the ins and outs of CA construction … but I cannot IMAGINE those oceanfront homes getting rebuilt. Adam is right … I’ve driven that section of PCH in Malibu countless times … and it is wall-to-wall homes with near zero lot line side yard setbacks. The beach and breakwater is completely invisible from view.

But now it’s not. Everyone can see the long, unbroken, beautiful sand beach of Malibu driving down PCH. I don’t believe there is a chance that the State of CA and the Coastal Commission won’t try to buy-out most if not all of those homeowners and make the beaches public again. What’s a few more $ hundred Billion to the world’s 5th largest economy? Hell, we’ve spent more than that on “welcoming” the illegals into our State.

Rebuild septic tanks and leach fields under the pristine beach? Ha! That’s NEVER gonna happen. And the sea walls? That’s not nearly enough to deal with the officially certified CAGW sea level rise flood elevation. The first floor of the homes will have to rise so high that no more than a one-story, over half floor building can be built thus cutting the floor area in half. Those $25M property values will be cut in half. And remember… virtually ALL of that value is in the land. So when the CC limits the size of the rebuilds … the values will plummet as they render the land use “unbuildable”

Those homes are probably insured for $2M max. as a replacement value. So when the State virtually condemns the land under those beachfront homes … it will make the eminent domain filings much more cost effective. Trust me … now that EVERYONE can see that GORGEOUS strand of beach … the State will seize those properties. You heard it here first.

The ONLY thing standing in the way of my prediction? The Gay Flag(s) … and the high percentage of Hollywood ownership.

        1. Don’t forget you can only use approved contractors to remove all of the hazardous waste that used to be your home. Some homeowners couldn’t rebuild the last time around because the fees were so high, which ate up most of the money for rebuilding (probably not the case at $2 million for rebuild), and that’s assuming their insurance company has the money to actually pay out.

  2. I watched this a couple hours ago. It’s really sad. Formerly paradise on earth, this place will never be the same again thanks to the despicable Marxists that rule California. But hey, you get what you vote for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  3. So you own a $50M house in an area known for wild fires and you didn’t invest in a $10K diesel water pump, 20gallons of diesel and some hoses when the entire Pacific Ocean is a few yards from your house? City slickers are not very self reliant, are they?

    1. I believe there are towns in Japan where all the houses have rooftop sprinkler systems coupled with an early warning system for wildfires.

    2. On the whole their utter failure to do anything useful, government or civilian, is remarkable.

You’re right, of course. $20 million bucks, no firefighting setup? Even the humble Phantom has a gasoline pump.

      1. OTOH … these homes sit on a non combustible beach on one side and a broad asphalt highway on the other. I suggest the property owners who probably EACH pay $50k/yr. + in property taxes actually expected the ugggghh … “First Responders” to easily prevent embers from igniting their roofs.

But the “First Responders” showed up only AFTER the fire destroyed their homes. If at all. Easily $50k/yr. + They should have each had their own designated City Firefighter on duty at EACH of these beachfront homes.

        1. “OTOH … these homes sit on a non combustible beach on one side and a broad asphalt highway on the other.”

I must agree. To be fair, it is a bit of a stretch to think that the City of Los Angeles would LET a fire burn everything down like that. Which they really and truly did, from leaving the canyons full of fuel, to not having water in the fire hydrants, to not repairing over a hundred fire trucks, and etc. Who could imagine that they’d do that?

But on the other hand, can you really live in California and not experience the abject stupidity and failure of government at all levels, every day? If I had $50 million bucks at risk, I’d have a fire system in place.

          1. Yes. We’re both right, which means I agree with you. I saw an episode of “Homestead Rescue” on a previously burned remote parcel in the Paradise Area. The very FIRST thing they did was to install a homemade exterior sprinkler system that would protect their buildings and livestock. Those people KNOW they are on their own when a fire hits.

Now … the rest of us … who SHOULD be able to rely on our First World Firefighting infrastructure… need to recognize we’re on our own too.

First Responder … what an utter JOKE. The only First Responders who actually get their jobs done in CA … are the Coroners

  4. Watch for the phoenix area to go up next. Like Clali, Insurance coverage being scaled back.
    Conspiracy theory? Maybe

    1. Phoenix? Unlikely.
Not enough overgrowth/fuel in the desert, tile roofs, stucco walls, and proper electricity grid.

Don’t know about the insurance, but if that’s the case I would suspect shenanigans. There’s some suspicious stuff going on in Phoenix the last few years. Corruption, essentially.

  5. These are made to be humped in on one man’s back miles away from any road and they’re cheap.

If you can get a lawnmower running by yourself you can operate it.
They’re small and with a few rolls of hose could have saved a bunch of houses each if they had somebody that’s NOT a total schmuck to run it and a swimming pool or two full of water.
If you have a cottage look into it.

I think part of the reason the 25 million dollar houses burned here and in Hawaii is that they’re empty or just had a bunch of shuffling old guys that can barely drive a car and maids tending the place.
Not enough men to put stuff out.
I bet the beach club that looks untouched had guys working there that put out the fires.

    1. How is it that our FIRST WORLD Firefighting infrastructure doesn’t include this pump and hose on EVERY fire truck? Swimming pools abound throughout these burn areas … and so long as the morbidly obese lesbian Fire Chief doesn’t furlough 1,000 Firefighters during the riskiest fire weather of the year … we could have 1,000 Firefighters during fighters operating these pumps out of 1,000 swimming pools … saving homes and stopping fire spread.

We wouldn’t even NEED silly things like inoperable fire hydrants. There’d be NO EXCUSE for the FD just standing around with their thumbs up their twats.

  6. I think the thing most unexpected about that whole video is the revelation that all of those houses are on septic systems. That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of. No sewers? On a -beach-? Are you kidding me?

Wasaga Beach has a sewer system, just for comparison.
