    1. Isn’t it a fee for Chinese made ships, regardless of who now owns them, or where the ships are registered?

  1. So, a Chinese shipping company that uses Korean ships, no fees, but a Danish shipping company that even owns one Chinese-manufactured ship gets hit with half a million bucks.
This is not a deterrent for Chinese imports, as the home port or port of registry doesn’t matter. It is rather an attack on Chinese shipbuilding.
    Very clever.

  2. I think the orange knob’s negotiating tactic of threatening tariffs is quickly coming to an end. Calling his bluff will trigger inflation and countervailing duties will crush American exporters. There are real reasons tariffs were negotiated away.

    1. Those “countervailing duties” are already higher than what the US charges, so good luck with that.
Trump has proposed equivalency, nothing more.

  3. Evry port charges docking fees. Just like every airport charges landing fees. The real question is how much do Chinese ports charge?
And if they think reflagging in some other country solves their problem, let me just say that the fee for flagging your ship in Panama or Liberia or the Philippines just went up.
