Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
When WEF’s Carney is appointed dictator and implements all his Green scams, expect industry to quickly flock to the U.S.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, there is way too much government at all levels in this country, and
the overreach is unbelievable. Political interference in business is retarded! When has the government ever backed a winner? Add in the corruption! Sheesh!
Been saying that for decades steve and nothing ever changes. I doubt I will see honesty and smaller government in my life which is getting shorter.
The number of companies whose books have been certified by the big accounting firms that later turned out to be fraudulent is a hard number to find but I bet it’s a big one.
Just another sector of the Canadian Myth.
Great optics until you discover the true seedy underside.
Is there a SINGLE thing in the WHOLE country propagandized and propagated by Government and Media that isn’t a MYTH/SHIBBOLETH/LIE and is actually TRUE?
Ok, so Trudeau has temporarily staved off the tariffs. He agreed to spend over a billion on securing our border and appoint a Fentanyl Czar. Hmmmmm….two things come to mind. Make that three. 1st – if we secure the US border regarding illegals leaving Canada, but do nothing to stem the flow of illegals into Canada, our country has not gained much. MSM might not mention this, but the US last year apprehended 3 times as many people on the terrorist watch list at the Canadian border as at the Mexican one. So Canada appears to a the preferred route for terrorists to get to the US. (Caveat – the # of people swarming the Mexico/US border also means there is less vetting there. That is why I say “a” preferred route rather than “the” preferred route.)
Second…Danielle Smith was saying 5 weeks ago that we should simply do what DJT was asking and secure the border re. drugs and illegals. She was demonized by the media, called a traitor and a Trump groupie. CBC even ran a comedy skit of her begging Trump to sign her breasts. Disgusting! Would they do that to a leftie politician? Anyway – she got called a traitor for saying we should secure the border. JT finally does it (after much anti-Trump posturing) and he gets called a hero and saviour. What??!!! I want a new country.
Of Alberta.
Sask can come too, but the rest of them can go without the ones that create the wealth.
3rd – and this is scary – do you think the timing of this was planned ahead of time by JT’s advisors? If he had caved to Trump right away, he would have been accused by the left as being weak. Orange Man Bad is their main talking point, so even if Trump proposes something that makes sense we have to be against it. Then, by waiting, Canadians get the sense of emergency and crisis. That is an important item in the mix. Then JT makes the phone call that he could have made in November, and saves us all. Hmmmmm….someone (Mencken, I think) has said that governing is the art of creating fake bogey men and then “saving” the frightened masses from them.
Kinda like….oh never mind. Your memories went there, too.
Where is the Billion Dollars coming from, since it was not budgeted for, nor was in the fall economic statement.
The CBC is over a $Billion drain on Canada annuslly with no redeeming features.
I suspect it’s a reallocation or recategorization of existing funding.
Send some existing RCMP, military, or customs people to work on the border. Additional costs transferred from say training budget.
Most of my retirement savings are now invested in the American markets. My patriotism has made me poor in the past, not anymore.
“Canadian business owners want their competition to stay and fight the tariffs”
It is incredible how corrupt and “governmentalized” this country is, KPMG has to kiss Liberal Ass, it is the only way here.
KPMG are the Liberals.
The xenophobic reaction of Canadians has been textbook 7 stages of grief.
Our border is insecure? Drugs are rampant in Canada? “Oh The NERVE!!!” Classic Denial.
Yet, the evidence is right in front of us. Citizens are great at projecting their values, assuming everyone shares them, like trust, civility and respect for the law. Naïveté also seems to be one of their prime qualities too.
“Only 47 pds of fentanyl was seized”. Well, that means ONLY 47 pds was seized, they’re not looking hard enough. Just look down any skid row in any city in Canada, like DTES in Hongcouver, Pandora St Victoria, the drug mart and denizens are laid bare for the world to see. It’s all over YT.
We have a nation in denial, easily swayed by joint efforts of government and their media lapdogs nauseating Propaganda.
One doesn’t need to try hard to imagine Nazi Germany, close your eyes, and listen. The hate and derangement is stifling.
47 pounds of fentanyl is enough for only about 11,000,000 lethal overdoses. So there’s that.
And as far as the Americans are concerned, that’s 47 pounds too many to be coming from their northern neighbour. They KNOW that Mexico is a cartel infested shithole and they’ve got their hands full dealing with that mess. They simply CAN’T have Canada turning into a Chinese-sponsored northern version of same; for a long time they’ve trusted us to take care of our own law enforcement because we’ve generally been competent at it. The longer Canada plays footsies with China, and the more incompetent we look to be in keeping our own house in order, then the more that the American security calculus changes in favour of simply ridding themselves of the clown show to their north before the Chinese get too entrenched!
L- In other words if the Liberals manage to cling to power and avoid an election until 2026.
We’re hooped. So much of Canada’s economic production will be lost. We won’t recover by
2067. If we survive that long.
The higher standard of living in the U.S. will drain the best and brightest of our human capital,
too. A recent survey showed that most of the younger workforce view their standard of living
as more important than than any loyalty to Canada. Decades of Cult. Marxism denigrating
Canada as: sexist, racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, transphobic and a destroyer of the
earth pagan goddess; that indoctrination has worked it’s damage. That the de-industrialization
of Canada by the anti-carbon energy/anti-mining campaign drove out the higher paying jobs.
Yes, that can be reversed but only by years of hard work and sacrifice. The same kind that
carved Canada out of the wilderness. The motivation for sacrifice is true patriot love. Which is
now in short supply.
Canada needs a hero as described in that song “I need a hero” fresh from the fight… a new heroic generation to be an “antidote to chaos”. That reminds me of a book subtitle…
Since you didn’t I’ll provide a link to the song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPZRb4_G7sc
Hell with a hero. It needs a monster.
I hope the US does drain our best and brightest, and realistically it has been for 150 years. I want my children to emigrate from this loser country. If you’re going to spend your life as a stranger in a strange land, which is what the Indo/Pak colony of Canada is to me now, you might as well move to a country with economic opportunity.
Canada needs a Trump! Maybe we can entice Baron to cross over and be a bad-ass, like his dad!
I get my confirmation bias from Mainstream Media Headlines – describes a lot of Hosers.
Several items that I buy regularly have recently gone up in price ~20%. What’s with that? I noticed since covid came along that there only has to be a rumour of prices going up to make prices actually go up. Of course they never go back down.
Prices have gone up, because the value of Canuckistan currency has gone down. Gold has hit new highs. Doesn’t mean Gold has gained in value. It means that the CAD, a fiat currency, has lost it’s value. It comes when irresponsible and unaccountable governments decide that they can simply print more money to band-aid their way out of an economic crisis.
As an early-adopter/voter of a third-Party candidate … Ross Perot …
That giant sucking sound Canadians hear is from all your businesses heading South. And yes, your lame duck PM sucks quite a bit on his own too.
It hasn’t been that easy for Canadians to emigrate south. Historically the US has seen illiterate Mexican peasants as the immigrant of choice.
Yay! Another Ross Perot voter!
I actually voted for him twice, (although the second time was more of a protest vote against ‘None of the above…’).
What everyone is missing, except for businesses, is there’s an 19% increase in the carbon tax coming April 1.
Who could blame them? The tax advantages and regulatory climate is probably a bigger reason than potential tariffs.
Canada assumes its rightful place in the 3rd World. Well done, Sox!
I haven’t read the comments here ( too busy moving the white stuff and too tired trying to shovel my way through the brown stuff over the last couple of weeks) but did want to respond to the line in the article about our abundance of natural resources that everyone is fixated on. The one thing about natural resources is that they stay natural until someone extracts them from the ground and processes them. To do that requires capital and Canadians are too busy paying taxes to properly invest capital when the government taxes the hell out of investment returns. The capital gains tax is a prime example of why Canadians are less likely to invest than Americans are. Canadian financial institutions are another reason.
Our business leaders. Red and white fishnet stockings and heels when they’re “entertaining” this side of the border; stars n stripes panties when “escorting” on the other.
