      1. There’s that slippery slope again. Today too much China…tomorrow too much misinformation and those accusations will be pushed forward by Democrats malevolent domestic actors punishing people they don’t like or their message. Not unlike what we saw with Biden’s utterly corrupt DOJ. Don’t think it’ll happen? I’d say you haven’t learned a god damned thing. Bill C-10 comes to mind.

Personally I don’t trust the gov’t banning anything because their security concerns has them wetting the bed, in the end it means it comes at our expense, namely personal liberties.
That’s all I have to say about that.

    1. That’s rich, considering the Chicoms have as much love for freedom of speech as the Soviets did, which was none.

    1. Would Musk engineers be able to sanitize it though?

I have no idea, but surely the communists could embed some poison pill algorithms?

  1. And Tik Tok fans are all convinced it’s a harmless Singapore-owned company, despite all evidence to the contrary.

  2. This tweet pretty much sums it up:

    https://x.com/ecomarxi/status/1880094515312181530

    TikTok: *Has normal algorithm*

    Israel: TikTok is antisemitic!

US: Does your algorithm promote antisemitic content?!

TikTok: No, take a look, it’s just that everyone hates Israel

    US: [frowny face]

    Israel: Ban it!

    US: TikTok will be banned!

    US citizens: *Download RedNote*

US bootlickers: Ha! I bet you can’t talk about Tiananmen Square or the Uyghurs on RedNote

RedNote: Check out these delicious Uyghur recipes!

US citizens: *realise how comprehensive US propaganda on China actually is*

    Well played, America

  3. The lickspittle citizens here seem happy that big gov’t is there to make the choices that the citizens are allegedly too stupid to make for themselves.
    **spit**

  4. Red note
Many who are leaving Tik Tok are migrating to Red Note. Similar to Tik Tok, also owned by a Chinese company.
(All Chinese companies are tied to CCP.)

It has been reported that many leaving Tik Tok do not care about national security. Also, they specify Red Note as a way to ‘get back’ at Trump.

  5. 1. The data harvested by X, Amazon, Google, FaceBook, etc, winds up on the open market, so, China gets to have that data, but that’s OK, right? But, somehow, the USAs security is so useless that an app made by a foreign gov’t is a “threat.”
    2. Tiktok is as much a public forum as Twitter, FB, etc, and as such, the people using it enjoy 1A protection, and for the state/congress to pass a law prohibiting it is a direct violation of the 1A.
    3. Biden says he won’t enforce the ban.
    4. Trump is no longer in favor of a TikTok ban.
    5. China is not “the enemy”, as there is no war between China and the USA, in fact, China is the USA’s 3rd biggest trading partner.
    6. The trade imbalance with China is around 3:1. To improve that, Trump needs to negotiate greater access to the Chinese market. He know how to negotiate, and sure, he’ll use all the tools in the toolbox to do that, but violating the 1A is not one of them, ie he’s not an idiot like so many of the McCain type GOPe warhawks are.

Its mind-boggling how stupid folk are.

  6. Here’s my wild, crazy baseless prediction. An American interest will purchase TT from Bytedance so it’s no longer a foreign company, at the same time Gettr and Truth get amalgamated into same company.
