There’s more bannin’ to do and time is running out;
The Biden administration finalized climate regulations to ban most natural gas-powered instantaneous water heaters — a move that critics say will drive up costs for consumers.
The Department of Energy—which formally published the rules the day after Christmas — didn’t issue a press release announcing the action, a departure from past appliance regulations. The published rules say the regulations are expected to help the climate by curbing carbon dioxide emissions.
Overall, under the regulations, roughly 40 percent of the new tankless water heaters available in the United States today will be taken off the market by 2029. Experts and industry officials say that will force consumers to purchase either more expensive or less efficient water heater models.
One industry analysis estimates that consumers will pay $450 more on average when purchasing new water heaters thanks to the regulations. And that will impact low-income and senior households, which are most reliant on the models targeted by the Department of Energy.
I thought tankless water heaters were supposed to be energy efficient alternative?
Trump should create an Omnibus bill reversing every piece of Biden legislation over the last 4 years.
All the “people” have to do is say no, and not comply. Did we not learn anything from covid. I did not comply.
President Donald J. Trump mentioned this today at his Mar a Lago speech, it’s just ended now, and he’s said how stupid it is and a good example of one of the things he’ll be overturning, starting in 13 days.
Both types of instantaneous water heaters are far more efficient than the storage units though the Energy Dept says they only want people to buy condensing and not the non-condensing heaters, and my guess is that Rinnai Corp. having supported a Republican in Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District, (Brian Jack won this) is just one of many who the Biden Democrats are pushing.

I’m sensing a little bull-shit in the matrix.
“The Department of Energy faced widespread blowback in early 2023 after it targeted popular gas-powered stoves and has continued to receive criticism for rules restricting refrigerators, furnaces, dishwashers, and clothes washers.”
“This is all part of the climate change agenda,” Lieberman continued. “One of the things we see is an antipathy towards natural gas versions of appliances because natural gas is a fossil fuel and they want to electrify everything. When you see bad regulations from the Biden administration, usually it has something to do with climate change.”
Refrigerators, dishwashers and clothes washers that run on natural gas? Water heaters, furnaces and clothes dryers yes.
I’m ambivalent about these changes. I want someone, somewhere to start paying the price for climate change (not me of course) so that people can see what they will have to give up. We need people freezing to death (in a needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few kind of way) before we stop the insanity of trying to leave fossil fuel energy behind without a backup plan. Someone’s grandmother (someone important and not mine) is going to have to freeze solid in her wheel chair before people wake up. I want to read about that grandmother.
Start with banning aIr conditioners, not heaters.
Tell that to a senior in Florida in July and August. I say you first.
I think the point here is … if you’re going to be stupid, why not start with the air conditioners because the idiots who want us off fossil fuels are sitting in air conditioned offices in Southern California, Southern France … they’re not sitting near the North Pole.
The stupid is still there Steve.
Here’s a good example of how radical ideologues do not consider consequences. Here’s what will happen. Right now, Trump is on the phone to Windsor (the only US manufacturer of tanks for hot water heaters in the US). He’s telling them not to be concerned, and that they won’t have to scrap their brand new facility that they just shelled out $70 Million to build. The fiat (essentially pushed out by Jennifer Granholm…who is a real pieces of human excrement IMO) will be negated.
The Biden Administration (which currently is a collection of disgruntled radicals) are pushing out their wish list in the last few weeks before power is transferred. Every single one of these ludicrous fiats will be squashed. What this does is push back the recovery, because industry and the private consumer need consumer confidence to start spiking before a significant recovery occurs. This will push the recovery deeper into the Trump Administration’s term, and disallow the Democrats their usual strategy. That strategy is taking credit for other administration’s accomplishments. My favorite was Obama making a pointed speech about how the current state of the economy was the “New Normal.” And, then Trump came in and improved it significantly. Last year, Obama tried to take credit for that turn around, and that sound bite came back to bite him in the posterior.
Biden’s radical army is throwing in their wish list before Jan. 20th on all kinds of things. It’s just going to delay matters and remove the ambiguity about who did what.
It’s anything but a peaceful transfer of power.
Wait until “judge” Merchan throws Trump in jail.
Will just strengthen his support.
Bluto – “The Department of Energy!”
DOGE – “Deadman!”
From the article: “Experts and industry officials say that will force consumers to purchase either more expensive or less efficient water heater models.”
So of course the object was not even to “save the climate”, but to screw the citizens. As usual!
I’m so old I can remember when we the people, not they the government, decided what we buy.
I think it all started with firecrackers. It’s been downhill since then.
Liberal heads exploded with the Chevron decision.
How dare we have a Republic.
A better solution for all those climate change believers, i.e. Democrats, ban them from flying on airplanes. There’s really no need for Democrats to fly. But, if they must, then solar powered dirigibles will move them in stately comfort. Hydrogen filled of course.
Further, confiscate all the Democrats’ cars. Democrats can take public transit.
Now we’re talking. Ban Democrats from ownig guns; watch the crime rate plummet.
Biden is flailing around like Elle Driver (played by Daryl Hannah) when her only good eye was plucked out of her head by “The Bride” (played by Uma Thurman) in Kill Bill Vol. 2.
What an absolute moron Biden is.
Obama’s vegetable signing presidential proclamations is paying back all the NGOs. This is just another example of gato’s first law:
“as soon as you allow politicians determine that which can be bought and sold, the first thing bought and sold will always be politicians.”
Relax all you normies, Our Boy Blue, is just doing his job, his role in this movie is almost over with. Nothing can stop what is coming. The bad guys are just expending the little bit of ammo they have left, but they aren’t winning.
You do realize that all this regulation stuff just drives the discerning consumer into the black market. There is an underworld where people have toilets that flush, have hot water at the tap, and, access to fries fried in tallow.
Poohpants may be almost gone, but the malevolent bureaucracy ain’t going anywhere.
The cull will need to be historic.
Trump and the Gang are going to have a battle and the toughest one might be with the DoD.
Same problem up in the Turdhole Dominion.
PP and the Cons, if elected with a majority, will need some men – bypass the shortpants policy crew for FFS – and women wielding chainsaws and cleavers.
I suspect the vast, VAST majority of the DoD will welcome the purge. It is time to, as Milei puts it….take a chainsaw to the bureaucracy.
Methane is a fossil fuel? Saturn’s moon Titan has oceans of it. It is hard to imagine the kind of fossils that produced that.
the atmosphere on neptune contains methane thus the blue colour.
jeepers, l never knew dinosaurs could thrive in -200 conditions . . . .
l posited decades ago so-called ‘fossil fuels’ are so abundant and locked in the earth thousands of feet down, it has to be primarily a *geological and chemical* process, not the ‘old wives tale’ rotted biomass from millions of years.
yes but you’ve been wrong before.
