We’ll see if Jagmeet follows through on his pledge not to prop up Justin’s government any longer. If past experience is any guide, there’s no guarantee.
The Conservatives are going to reconvene the public accounts committee on Jan. 7 and use it to ship a motion of non-confidence to the House of Commons when the holiday break ends on Jan. 27.
The party believes MPs will be able to vote on the motion by the end of January. If the NDP joins the other parties and votes in favour of it, the motion would bring down the government and spark a federal election.
His pension will be locked in by the time the subsequent election happens.
So congratulations Jagmeet. You’ve successfully f**ked over an entire country to get your gold-plated pension!
Huzzah for socialism!
Whatever remains of the NDP / #Libranos after this election should be made aware of the reasons why nobody should trust them while the country is broken and in need of repair from every vantage point.
and the reason why the NDP were unable to vote against the #Libranos, that they put their own pensions above everything and everyone else.
It’s the opposite of what John Kennedy said, “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” … and note the ideals of this statement are long, long dead in Canada.
It’s my understanding that the Federal EnnDeePee war chest is pretty low. Can’t see the commies trying to run an election campaign running on MT. If Jagderp actually calls bullshit on the Lieberals, I’ll be surprised, guaranteed pension or not.
Singh is a socialist and Khalistani terrorist supporter, but the system that has put him in place to get that gold plated pension is of a democratic capitalist type. Politicians look after them selves.
Or Justin goes to his hand picked Governor General and Prorogues the house for 4 months so the liberals can have a “leadership contest” to appoint Mark Carney, in a desperate attempt to stay in power.
Carney is smarter than that. This next election is a sure loss for the amoral LIEberals, why would he want to be the leader of a loss?
Kim Campbell set the example, many remember her legacy of losing, it’s a career killer.
A smart man would pick up the pieces well after a resounding defeat, he would have no baggage, at least from a resounding defeat as leader. Besides, while I fundamentally disagree with his belief system, one has to acknowledge his accomplishments. He seems too intelligent for the
LIEberal party. At this time, it’s a party of extremists and activists with not a care in the world of all the damage they’ve done and are currently doing to this once great country.
Quite right, Dan. One other thing: Carney has been the president of two major national banks: Canada and England. He already has a very comfortable retirement and leaves behind him already a strong career in national banking. Why would he sacrifice any of this to become a guaranteed loser in the next federal election? Kim Campbell is an object lesson, not a model to be followed.
But, taking over from Justatwit, he would inherit all of the baggage accumulated by Justin’s decade in power.
And I agree about the LPC. It used to be a party in the middle of moderation. All those people were long ago chased out of the LPC by Justin and his nitwits to become just another party of the extreme far left. Carney is not stupid; he knows that there’s only room in any country for one socialist party. Canada now has three: the Libs, the Dips and the Greens.
cghCOLON
” there’s only room in any country for one socialist party. Canada now has three: the Libs, the Dips and the Greens.”
And bible pounders. The go-along to git along fools.
Carney isn’t as smart as he looks at first glance, and full on crony climate capitalist, being the chair of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, and endorsing Rachel Reeves as Britain’s agent of destruction in the new Labour government.
Once those 25 percent tariffs hit I would expect some excitement.
Unless the rest of the NDPee grow a pair, #Mr.MaseratiMan will most assuredly hang on for his pension, and continue to lie, deny, distract, lie some more, and so forth.
Looking at the #ShinyPony’s actions at the ski slopes over Christmas, it seems to me that bro is making the most of his Imperial status and soaking up all the gravy his little biscuit wheels will hold. Cutting the line like that is the most obvious and stupid abuse of power he could have managed. That’s why he did it. Because he can.
The Liberals are going to be reduced to 2 or 3 seats. There is a possibility the #ShinyPony will take one of them for himself, as leader of the party, still hanging on. Likewise I see very little future for the NDPee, but we could see #RolexMan stay in parliament too.
“Likewise I see very little future for the NDPee”
I tend to agree. The Dippers are broke right now. They only paid off the election costs of 2022 this year.
They’ve sold out their only constituency, the unions, for a pension. Not to mention that thanks to nine years of fiscal insanity, and mass immigration, and inflation, there are barely any union jobs left outside government.
Public sector unions are not enough to support two federal parties. They’ll vote Liberal, not NDPee.
But, and I say this with all humility, what do I know about the machinations behind the curtain? Just because it seems that you’d have to be -mental- to vote for either the Libs or the Dips doesn’t mean jack. Toronto elected fricking #ChowChow as mayor, right?
So I guess we’ll see.
There’s not going to be an election until the end of October. There are lots of communists and Bloc Fasciste who want their pensions too.
All the Bloc members will be reelected. They are in favour of an early election
That’s good to hear, but I think what JD said above will happen….the GG will let them prorogue, then that will give them time to appoint the red perogy, our own Kamala, but with a twitch instead of a cackle.
Scar; the greatest number of MP’s waiting for that golden pension to kick in in October is…………..The Conservative Party of Canada!
And you can bet every one of them is also silently cheering for no election until AFTER the pension kicks in.
Greed isn’t just the mode of the socialist parties in this country.
NP article: https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/here-are-the-80-mps-set-to-qualify-for-a-pension-with-the-help-of-a-liberal-rule-change
“The Liberals lost seats in the 2019 election, as they moved from a majority to the first of now two minority governments. As a result, the primary beneficiary of this change would be Conservative MPs, 32 of whom won their seats for the first time in 2019.
The second largest number of MPs to benefit are 22 Liberals. The NDP have six MPs elected in 2019, and the Bloc Québécois have 20.”
I support the CPC and Polievre, but am far too cynical to believe they are going to clean up the mess that this country has become. They will be Ottawashed within months of attaining power and most of the issues we care about will be either put on the back burner or ignored altogether while the CPC panders to many of the same groups the Liberals do. The object once in power becomes; stay in power.
Watch what a debacle “jail not bail” becomes. While in the background the usual foreign agents go about corrupting all our governments and agencies. Sam Cooper should be mandatory reading for every Conservative politicians, but I wonder if they’re even aware of the guy’s existence.
DM – given the polls, the Conservative MPs would think they have a fairly good chance of being re-elected and so wouldn’t mind an early election. It’s those who are facing defeat – the Libs and the Dippers – who will want to hang on and have the election day pushed back so they can get their pensions.
This October article from Andrew Coyne portrays some post election “interesting times”:
// The unity crisis that awaits us on the other side of the next election //
Andrew Coyne https://archive.is/J0jgy
It’s been at least 10 years since I gave a rats a$$ what Coyne had to say
But wouldn’t you welcome a “unity crisis”?
Is there really going to be a “unity crisis” when Montreal is flooded with a million immigrants? We are on path to have more #Hindus and #Mooselimbs in Quebec than Quebecois.
Call me optimistic, but I don’t think the Pur Lain are going to go for that. The Bloc made that happen by shoring up the #ShinyPony, and everybody still remembers.
Andrew Coyne’s senate seat and incontinence underwear hardest hit.
Skimming the article, I feel Mr. Coyne is “viewing with alarm” and trying to raise the Separatist bogeyman again.
To Coyne and his fellows, a -smaller- government with -lower- taxes and -less- regulation is a disaster. That would be the end of all their scams. They need a Big Government with lots of side deals.
As to Quebec, I am sure they all noticed the Covid emperor was naked the same as the rest of us, and they can’t afford their rent either. We shall see.
My Theory, parliament is prorogued near the end of January with a ways and means motion to keep the government afloat. This goes on until the end of June when a “Trump election” will be called. The election will be the full 50 days to help people lose interest over the summer. The message will be anti-Trump with an emphasis on how tariffs are hurting Canadians and how the Conservatives are “MAGA-light Trump appeasers.” Statistically, this should help the Liberals. Negative campaigns suppress the vote and only ignite the people who really agree with the message. During the prorogation there will be a hailstorm of public promises and hidden spending to encourage the faithful and the support the grifters. There will also be a carefully choreographed mis-information campaign to further sow doubt and uncertainty.
Thoughts?
Agree with JD
Trudeau will porogue parliament for 6 months so the Liberals can have a leadership convention and send Mark Carney to the polls to save the day in the summer..
My prediction.
If the Liberals prorogue parliament, could that not be construed as an open invitation to the US to move in and reestablish peace, order, and good government? God knows we don’t have much of that at the moment. After the dust settles, Governor Justin could be put back in Ottawa, and all would be well. Maybe that’s what JT and the Donald discussed at Mara Lago last month. Just sayin’
I think the Bronfmans will sent him one more time to Shitcago, to be instructed by axlerod.
And when he comes back, we’ll see what he is TOLD to do!
A growing number of Liberals want the Prime Minstrel gone.
He ain’t leaving unless its kicking and screaming.
His PMO boss, Telford, is as dirty as anyone and that vile bitch needs more time to cover all the crimes.
The unity crisis is that we’re all still on the Titanic after hitting the iceberg in 2015.
Trudeau can’t prorogue Parliament past March 31st. There’s a little matter of a budget that needs to be passed so the Feds can operate from April 1st onward. If Jagmeet is to be believed, it’s either over on January 27th, when Parliament reconvenes or April 1st if Trudeau prorogues and Parliament is forced back to vote a budget so the business of government can continue unabated. But he ain’t making it to October.
I’d expect that budget to be a whopper and with handouts to whatever the NDP or Bloc stands for now (I mean outside of their MP’s pensions), hopefully none of the bank majors extend too much credit to the NDP, knowing how their chances are in the next federal general, and their likelihood of being able to affectively fundraise from people taxed to the max and reminded of their confiscatory carbon tithe monthly.
Trudeau is too amateur a rogue to prorogue.
All together now: “Goodbye Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh, gonna go try to prorogue down the bayou…”
If the NDP decides to screw Trudeau I have little doubt that Shiny Pony will do his best to screw them right back. Say, by dropping the writ for two days before the pensions lock in. Or issuing orders to block the pensions. Or confiscating bank accounts.
At this point, unless Trudeau pulls the house back before it’s scheduled date of Monday January 27th, The Maserati Socialist gets his pension, because the election runs until March 4th at minimum.
He would have to call the election on January 20th at the latest in order to screw the leader of the NDP.
All of this assumes a 36 day campaign (the minimum), the max is 50 days.
I don’t imagine there is much enthusiasm in political circles for a February election so I will guess April 1st as a very suitable date for us to elect another new set of clowns.
