    1. Haven’t traveled much but does the rest of the world have labels in English while ours are in French?

      1. Not sure if you’re talking about the russian ship but if yes, Russian culture of incompetence is legendary. If you’re not standing over an ork with a whip in your hand you’re sure he is finding a million of creative ways to get drunk and f@#$ around.

Russian maintenance has always been a joke. Moskva being a perfect example, after the crew has stolen 75% of fire extinguishers the rest were locked and only captain had a key, they could not reach them in time. One out of six CIWS was working etc.

The best true story is from the Cold War. A russian cargo ship sunk in the arctic. The crew evacuated into a rescue boat and starved before they were found, because someone has stolen the can opener to the food that was stored on the boat.

  1. Christmas Eve we’ll start by shoveling snow. At least 10cm overnight.

Today is our family gathering. Sons and spouses, grandson, my brother all coming over for dinner. After clearing the snow I’ll be starting up the wood smoker to do Cornish hens. Sweet Potato Casserole and other sides.
    Family time and gifting.
Christmas Day is a quiet day for us. After driving my brother back to the home, there is absolutely nothing planned. Leftovers (hopefully) for dinner.

  2. Going to start by shoveling some snow. First of the season overnight. Christmas day with our kids and grandkids. Part of it will be quiet some of it not so much.

    Merry Christmas

  3. Snow shoveling.
Maybe a walk in the woods somewhere.
    Food.
    Nap.
    Workout.
    Beer…

    Investor Tip:
“In the next 25 years we will consume more copper than humanity has consumed until now,” said Kunal Sinha, Glencore’s global head of recycling. “That’s the scale of the challenge.”

Merry Christmas Eve, Ladies & Gentlemen.

  4. I hope to get out for a walk while the snow is still pristine, then shovel it. It’s a family get together today at our brothers place with more young kids than ever (which is such a blessing). Quiet tomorrow, (hors d’oeuvres, and fondue) ,then grand baby for brunch on boxing day.
Merry Christmas to all at SDA

  6. 1. Shovel snow.
    2. Loaf.
    3. Head out to my brother’s place to spend Christmas with him, my sister-in-law and my nephews.
    4. Loaf some more.

    Merry Christmas SDAers!

  7. Just curious, are the wedges, that occurred during the Covid times, still in place in people’s families at Christmas 2024?

    1. My brother and his family got the jab, two of ’em. They now regret it, and have apologized to me for trying to pressure me to get it.

    2. Yes Robert. We are having the only family on wife’s side who didn’t shun us over tonight. Our neighbors, same age as our grown kids have been adopted into the family, being like minded and truly good friends. They too will join us for our Christmas meal. No Turkey here. We are doing a couple smoked beef roasts, fried chicken with an assortment of Ukrainian sides.
      God Bless.

  8. This is our first Christmas in our new house, in a new town, with a new puppy. We haven’t spent Christmas with family since 2019, thanks to Wu Flu. Now, we’re just too far away and that’s okay with me (they’re all jabbed and infected with TDS).

Tourtiere for Christmas Eve dinner and then candlelight service at Church. Roast turkey breast tomorrow for dinner and a day of relaxing and taking the pup for walks.

Merry Christmas to everyone at SDA. Peace and blessings to all.

    1. Amira Elghawaby is an islamic supremacist, a clear and present danger to Canada. She needs to be expelled.

  9. Trudeau won’t step down over Christmas, Freeland considers vying for Liberal leadership, sources say
    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-justin-trudeau-not-resigning-stepping-down-over-christmas-holidays/

“While I was disappointed by the timing of her announcement, I must acknowledge her exceptional political acumen,” Mr. Arya said in his public letter to Mr. Trudeau.

“Whether by design or circumstance, she has emerged as a credible and stable alternative to your leadership.”

He said he stood by Mr. Trudeau for lack of a credible alternative but that Ms. Freeland has now “filled that void.”

“To the Liberal caucus and Canadians at large, she represents stability and competence, ready to lead immediately. Her successful track record positions her ideally to address the looming challenges posed by the new U.S. administration.”

He described her approach to governance and managing the threat of Mr. Trump as “embodying the strength of an iron fist in a velvet glove” and argued that she would be able to unite the party, and that caucus would rally behind her…

    1. OMG! Freeland was hopelessly out her depth, as were all of the other Ministers of the Crown.

      Freeland is Canada’s Kamala.

  10. Baking my granny’s raisin cookies. A confection I have never seen anywhere else; no person I have ever talked to about these cookies have ever heard of a cookie like them. I hosted last year’s Christmas dinner and those cookies went over very well.

Candied sweet potatoes and an applesauce cake from my mother’s recipe book. Big turkey with salted skin that is crispy, juicy, and savory; the source calls it a process, not a recipe. A drink and evening by the fire with my dear wife of almost 40 years with Trumpet the cat.

Joy and thanks for the likely salvation promised by the election of DJT again. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your readers.

  11. I’m going to drink a lot of Mexican beer before the tariffs kick in.

I really hope Trump imposes tariffs on California.
