Perhaps in trad publishing… But in indie publishing, the male authors are doing fine, thank you. Remove the AWFL gatekeepers who are developing a monoculture and watch authors soar. But hey, indie publishing always gets ignored by the mainstream yet authors are raking in more cash than the trad pubbed.
