Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Most of our “health care” money no doubt pays the salaries of burocrats, and not actual health-care providers.
Also, since it’s a top-down, fully state managed system, there is no feedback between actual conditions in the field and the health-care providers, as was painfully obvious during the wuflu scam.
It is unionized, government run. No other “excuses” are required.
It’s unionized, and gov’t run, and gov’t regulated, and the left loses their minds when we suggest they are the reason for it being sub-standard, and they respond with, we need to be more unionized, with greater gov’t involvement, and more regulations to ensure the gov’t regulations are followed with perhaps a new “Ministry of Compliance”, then let another few million people into the mix who are not able to contribute much more than sweeping the floors at crappy Tim’s Coffee and getting your order wrong twice, and then throw in a recession just to be sure, while the MSM repeats endlessly that we on the right are the problem.
Let it burn.
I have experienced incorrect orders at Tim’s, and not just the coffee!
All Canada needs is a new Department Of Government Efficiency to fix things. An added bonus would be new fodder for Terry Gilliam’s next movie. (go watch Brazil if you haven’t seen it)
Bureaucracy sure does suck up a lot of money with zero return on the asset.
We’re first in well paid non medical bureaucracy, doesn’t that count for something?
Rebuilding our military would no doubt result in the same sort of ineffectiveness. Our governments simply will not address waste as long as everyone in them is fattening up on so much taxpayer cash.
L – Notice to those choosing to vacation or immigrate to Canada: 4th highest per capital
spent on health care out of the top 31 countries. (champagne socialists pat themselves on
the back and raise a toast to themselves), Having a relatively low number of health professionals per capita. In the event of a shortage of a doctor or nurse to attend to your
injury or illness, a health bureaucrat will come and hold your hand.
If, your suffering seems as though it might be interminable, said bureaucrat will offer you
quick relief, by having you sign with assistance a termination of suffering, informed consent
form. Remember, there are empathetic ways of reducing health care waiting lists in Trudopia!
Obama-care is doing the same thing to us in the USA.
The State of CA is running real slick advertisements for Obamakkare where the main character … working on a construction site … claims he is receiving full health care from “Covered California” for $10.00/mo.
Yeah, right … sheesh … he must be working for cash under the table, and reports income under $500/mo. to get that kind of absurdly low cost. Utter nonsense.
Plus … WHY does the State even NEED to advertise for their (reportedly FREE) government healthcare? Answer: because no one is signing up for it and it is crashing the State budget. Those supposed 20 million Americans without Health Insurance? Yeah … they’re all paying the tax penalty rather than $PAY the HIGH COST of Obamakkare. The entire system is rubbish … and was intended only as a precursor to single payer … Government … Socialized Medicine.
https://youtu.be/eOIOjGnRQnQ?si=Qv_a9IFmQFNEHGep
No one making construction wages is paying $10/mo. for Obamakkare. Unless they’re working under the table.
Notice the good work done by the Fraser Institute. It’s one of just two economic think tanks that refuse to accept any government money. And it’s despised by the left.
If our GDP is expressed in US dollars we’ve been in a “technical” recession since about 2016.
Someone ought to inform Bernie Sanders, who just claimed the following …
“Does that mean that we can adopt the Canadian health care system and guarantee health care to all, lower the cost of prescription drugs, and spend 50% less per capita on health care?” Sanders concluded, “I’m all for it.”
Yeah … guaranteed healthcare … if you don’t mind standing in Soviet-style breadlines to get it
Tells you everything you need to know about Bernie Sanders, eh?
tell bernie to sample the waters, find out the delay getting a dermatologist referral via a GP in sw ontariowe.
try A YEAR AND A HALF. yup. it was suggested l ‘take what l can get’.
but . . . . . . . liberalism triumphs !!!!!!

The biggest problem with our system as has been pointed out by several commenters is the huge amount of bureaucrats consuming so much of the resources. And having so much unearned and unaccountable power over our health care. I’m not terribly against universal healthcare as looking down at the US where you can go bankrupt over a broken arm or having a kid even with a ton of insurance coverage. Also not against unionization of work force either as not everyone can bargain with management with any degree of success. Keeping a medical facility clean and sanitized and the supplies in order takes a surprising amount of work and skill even if you think it’s beneath you. And if some of you took a look around you might realize a lot of good union members are quite conservative too. Just because the upper levels are schmoozing up the NDP/Liberal arses it doesn’t mean the membership does. Believe me if you were ever at an Delegates meeting of the IWA/USW when talk of support for the NDP came up you’d know it’s pretty close to 50/50. So sitting behind your keyboard putting down anyone who doesn’t work in a job requiring University or college and is paid well for what you think is menial work that’s beneath you sort of sounds familiar don’t you think?
But, but, but… it’s FREE!
Oh let me rant….
My story I will end this post with is a ‘small thing’, but in reality it’s everything. That is because 2 things make sh!t work:
1) Attitude.
2) Competition.
These both are scarce in public union settings. When you have a whole barrel of union NPC’s not caring, and being led by approximately 75% more management than required, with no alternative – you get exactly what you’d expect.
So yesterday morning, on my way to work at 7am, I stopped to drop off a FIT sample. I get to AHS lab, and there is already a line of about 12 people waiting to check-in thru the 1 receptionist. So I just scoot around them, go up to counter and say can I just drop this off? The receptionist says NO, YOU MUST WAIT IN LINE. To which I say, I can’t… and leave. I do not cause scenes. (well, not over something like this)
After work, I stop by again, to no line at all. I walk up to a different receptionist, and she asks ARE YOU DROPPING THAT OFF? I say yes, she takes it, I say thanks and walk away….
So that moron in the morning…. PEOPLE LIKE HER ARE THE PROBLEM. And the fact nobody is smart enough there to put out a drop off basket by the counter.
PS It’s never too late to buy BTC.
Arrogant Ignorance.
This is the “A.I” in our future.
OK is our present.
As any who lived through Dread Covid Theatre can attest..
Government run healthcare will always end up as MAID.
The perverse incentives of the Bureaus guarantee this.
Everything government touches turns to shit.
And anyone who believes that a bunch of bureaucrats can provide compassionate care for taxpayers..Has not lived the Canadian Experiment.
With the current ratio of Administrators to medical staff..??
Papers please.
The government runs the medical system. I can’t get a doctor.
Private sector runs Optometrists, Dentists etc. I can book an appointment anytime. Now the government wants to take over dentistry. Vets are private sector – my dog gets better healthcare than I do.
Less government is an option that has to be explored.
