Asteroid Watch

Team Blue’s got the blues;

MSNBC saw its audience crater on Thursday and Friday, just days after the left-of-center network beat CNN in election night ratings for the first time ever.

Thursday’s total average daily viewers on Fox News came in at 2.6 million and 375,000 in the coveted 25-54 age demographic, according to Nielsen data. Meanwhile, MSNBC brought in only 596,000 total viewers and 71,000 in the demo. CNN brought in 419,000 total viewers on Thursday and 91,000 viewers in the demo.

Fox News was up some 60 percent year over year for the day, while MSNBC and CNN were down 23 and 40 percent – respectively. In prime time the news was even more bleak for CNN and MSNBC as they shed 30 percent and 54 percent of their viewers, respectively, compared to the same day last year. MSNBC host Alex Wagner had her lowest-rated show ever in terms of total viewers, while Chris Hayes’s show brought in its worst numbers since May of 2016.

And that doesn’t factor in the audience boost from rubberneckers.

  1. 99 out of 100 psychologists agree that Chris Wallace does not have a detectable personality. So how is his podcast going to attract an audience?

    1. But, but, but … he speaks in that stilted, fake, “newsman’s” voice … like a wannabe Chet Huntley or David Brinkley … won’t people tune in to hear that?

Maybe he can become a voice actor. Doing narrator work attacking every Trump policy?

  2. Well there won’t be any tear’s in any beer’s when they go down the drain from me.

  3. Snowflake: “I… I… I just can’t watch. It’s too painful.”

Skilled in the art of shutting out anything that goes against their worldview.

With luck, maybe there is a bunch who are shooting the messenger and will never watch again.

  4. On visits to the US I’ve watched MSNBC and was in awe at the BS they spewed. The numbers prove that their on air ‘personalities’ are verified insane.
You can only listen to them for a brief time.

  5. Mike Wallace was a congenital liar. And his son Chris is cut from the same cloth.
As they say: “That nut didn’t fall far from the tree.”

  6. I’m hoping they didn’t just tune out, but got a length of rope, found a tree and learned to swing.

  7. People tuned in in droves to watch the lefties melt down. Free entertainment.

How hard is that to understand?

    1. I tend to rubberneck at every dumpster fire I see … but would never click onto CNN or MSNBC … ever. In fact, I’d like to see SLING TV remove those completely from the “news” lineup and relegate them to the “drama” or “true crime” channels.

  8. Fox is the only news network in business for the money. MSNBC and CNN must hemorrhage cash in buckets. If CNN went full middle of the road honest they would kill. They invented and pretty much owned cable news. I used to love CNN. Now I can’t watch it. It insults their audience’s intelligence.

  9. I have to admit, I alternated between CNN & MSNBC while following various blogs. And yes, I was watching only for the schadenboner over their collective meltdowns. I probably won’t turn either channel on again until the nest presidential election.
