BBC- Air NZ becomes first big carrier to drop climate goal
Air New Zealand has abandoned a 2030 goal to cut its carbon emissions, blaming difficulties securing more efficient planes and sustainable jet fuel. The move makes it the first major carrier to back away from such a climate target.
What, no electric planes available??
Really! What a bunch of pussies! So what if planes start dropping out of the sky? What’s 340 souls sacrificed compared to saving the planet!?
That just reminded me … https://youtu.be/UKcI2mcsueM?si=1cj2O9DiW1P3Ov6X
The funny part, they are flying the 787. Which is great on getting good fuel mileage.
I guess you just get to a point where the laws of thermodynamics get in the way of the unicorn-fart powered aircraft pipe dream.
Dumb, always was dumb.. Lets make our prices twice as expensive so we can pretend to save the world.. = Bankrupt..
Guess that makes them the smartest ones?
They could use solar powered dirigibles.
“Air New Zealand has abandoned a 2030 goal to cut its carbon emissions, blaming difficulties securing more efficient planes and sustainable jet fuel”
Here, let me fix that for you:
“Air New Zealand has abandoned a 2030 goal to cut its carbon emissions, blaming difficulties securing more Government grants, subsidies, and tax incentives.”
Ardern’s teeth are trying to fly out of her mouth.
You can lead a horse to jet fuel, but you can’t remove the stink.
“ sustainable jet fuel “. What a laugh.

What they are NOT saying is the cost for that green fuel.
Reality always reasserts itself in time.

The question I always have is why do these corporations sign onto the madness in the first place. Considering they pretty much know everything about their industry surely they could have said right at the beginning: no, that’s not achievable.
Because when the government holds a gun to your head labeled “DESTRUCTIVE REGULATION”, you do what they tell you. Or at least you play along until the political winds change.
A glimmer of common sense. Well done NZ.
Hoorah!
Time to fly Air NZ if you can
