We Don’t Need No Flaming Sparky Cars

The retreat is everywhere…

“But in the past 12 months, the growth rate of electric vehicle sales has slowed sharply as some car buyers have balked at the high prices of electric cars and trucks and the hassles of charging them, especially on long trips.

The shift in consumer sentiment is now forcing many automakers to pull back on aggressive investment plans, and pivot, at least partly, back to the internal-combustion engine vehicles that still account for most new car sales and a large share of corporate profits.”

Trump:
“I will end the electric vehicle mandate on day one, thereby saving the auto industry from complete obliteration; and savings US customers thousands and thousands of dollars per car.

  1. Trump kept his promises in his administration, so this promise to end the EV mandate is a very big reason to vote for him. That, and the promise to drill, baby drill.

I think if Trump is elected, the Keystone pipeline will be done, and in record time.

  2. Has Poilievre said anything about the EV mandate in Canada? Canada is reflexively far more leftist than the USA, so it may not be the vote-getter here that the policy is in the USA.

  3. My “brother from another mother” in Toronto has current clients and the husband is totally “P’Oed” in that the electrical service to the house has to be increased to 400 amps. Both he and his wife drive Teslas (and they park them in the garage!). They are building a $ 300,000 kitchen with an electric induction range. With all of the other electrical uses in the house, the existing 200 amp service is definitely NOT large enough. Apparently, there is a backlog for this service of approximately 9 months in the GTA. So the electrician just told them that they will have to turn off about half of the circuits in the house to keep power going to the charging stations for the cars and to the new kitchen.
It is a problem only rich people have.

    1. Most people’s superstitions of where electricity comes from, is as far as the wall outlet.
