We need more administrators with higher salaries that should be paid for by higher taxes on primary health care providers. Easy peasy.
Canadian Press- Nova Scotia emergency department deaths hit six-year high, doctors point to ‘bed-blocking’
Retired doctor Robert Martel, who worked in Nova Scotia ERs for decades, says many beds in emergency departments are blocked because they are occupied by patients who can’t get a spot in long-term care or who need community services. He says patients are also showing up at emergency rooms far sicker than they should be, because they don’t have a regular doctor who could have detected their illness earlier.

Justin is too busy processing immigrants to worry about the health care of current Canucks … when questioned about it Justin said “let them eat cake”
sarc …. actually no it’s true!!
Just returned from Utah. Wife had a medical emergency related to the 7200 ft. elevation and received excellent treatment in a county-run 24 bed hospital that listed five .. FIVE .. doctors on staff. The staff including three cooks treated us like royalty, partly I suppose because there were never more than three patients in the four days we were there. Oh, Canada.
In Canada, you would wait 12 hours for the privilege of being mis-diagnosed. But it’s free/sarc
I’m sure the jabs have no part in this…
Even retired docs are not going to talk to you about that.
Note that he is RETIRED Dr. Robert Martel, former ER doc. He is free to speak because they can’t get at him now. Nobody else is talking. Since 2020, nobody talks until after they quit. Mostly not even then.
That should tell you something about healthcare in #Blackie’s Canada, but it never seems to. Apparently Normies are too stupid to notice that their doctor is behaving like a scared apparatchik in Soviet Canuckistan.
Also too stupid to understand that if the number of bureaucrats is increasing while the number of doctors is decreasing, their best bet for old age is going to be a private hospital in Buffalo NY. Say what you want about the Americans and their private system, MAiD is still murder in the USA.
In most states, anyway.
I’m sure it will only get “better”.
Is Nova Scotia saying they need more intergenerational welfare payments / “equalisation” funding from the western producing provinces?
You know what? Nova Scotia has received $46 Billion in welfare / “equalisation” payments from the western producing provinces since 1980.
It’s too bad they never thought to do something useful with that investment.
After Alberta / Saskatchewan separate, are they going to plant “Victory Gardens” so they don’t starve in the winters?
One might suggest you do an audit to see where the money is going for, but neither the government, nor the hospitals are likely to agree, so it’s just a big black box to shovel more money into no matter the outcomes.
You might also ask how many patients some of these doctors see once they get into management/c-suites, and what value for taxpayer money they bring.
Nova Scotia has stopped reporting weekly death counts. There are no entries in Stats Canada’s “Provisional weekly death counts, by age group and sex” after 07 January 2023. Nova Scotia’s last weekly death count report was a five-year high of 265 deaths. Manitoba has also stopped reporting, its last weekly report was 10 June 2023.
They don’t want us to know how bad it is…

My Dr is retiring. It will take 3 “New” Dr to take over her Patient list. The FILTHY Politician will say ” we added 3 New Dr”…
This issue is always ignored. We are doomed.
The government is 100% responsible for this. No one ever has trouble finding a dentist because the supply of dentists is set by the market. Ditto with vets; Fluffy and Fido have no problem getting health care. But government determines the number of seats in med schools and hence determines how many doctors we have. And don’t let anyone blame “covid”–the problem long predates it. Remember when Dough Ford was running against Kathleen Wynne with the promise of “ending hallway medicine?”
Gov’t controls all aspects of healthcare in N.S. and for most of the remains of tier 2 Canada.
How does anyone get to blame someone other than gov’t for this? I guess unions maybe, but they’re there with he blessing and approval of multiple levels of gov’t. Any fight to remove unions from healthcare will be fought to the ends of the country by almost everyone who may at some point become sick, ever again apparently.
