Let Them Eat Carbon Credits

Blacklocks- Inflation Hikes Poverty Rates

“We noted a growing sense of hopelessness and desperation,” said a Council report Blueprint For Transformation. “Persons with lived expertise of poverty and service providers alike told us things seem worse now than they were before and during the first years of the pandemic.”

“Recent increases in the cost of living represent one of the most important socioeconomic challenges faced by people living in Canada following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic,” wrote the Council. “It is expected this will put upward pressure on poverty rates.”

Yeah I was saying that in Feb/March of 2020. An economy isn’t a light that you can just turn on and off. Unfortunately lots of people, including our front-hole of a prime minister and his minions refuse to comprehend that. Also try telling that to anyone at the time…“you’re worried about money?? People are dying!!!” they’d screech. Yeah well do you have any notion of how much dying is going to occur if people aren’t able to buy food or pay for shelter? The seismic ripple effect from interrupting economic activity will be felt for YEARS afterward and result in exactly that, and unfortunately we get to live through it now.

    1. Yep…and 100% planned, I’m certain of it.

I received a Rent increase of 13.5% on a Brand new apartment & I was damned fortunate to even find one a year ago in Calgary.
Now in the process of moving into my RV full time.
      Saves me over 1000/mo.

Pretty sure I’m not alone in this. Fortunately I was actually able to find a site…seems pretty much EVERY Yr round RV park within 100Km of Calgary is 100% Fully Booked.

      1. It’s even worse in BC, for RV living. Anyone thinking of doing that, think again, you’ll be parking on the street for a long, long, time. Since rents have gone astronomic, the RV parks here on the island with full time spots, are packed year round. Yes, they do keep sections open for tourist season, where they can charge over $200/night at some beach side spots in Parksville, Tofuno, etc.
There’s a huge park not far away from me, where they keep minimal overnight spots, as they have over 200spots of full time RV living. These are their homes, as the rents here in Greater Victoria are beyond reason, should include all over the Island for that matter. It’s out of control.

    2. “… unfortunatelywe get to live through it.” Only until it kills us. Technologically advanced civilizations are increasingly complicated, and complexity is fragile.

  2. Another goal of the scamdemic achieved. Fortunately the Libs/NDP just happen to have bill S-233 for UBI on tap

      1. It is insulting to poor people.
        “What are you good at”?
“Well, gov, I’m a practiced expert at being poor, I hone that skill daily, you should see how I have developed my abilities in impoverishment”.

The Monty Python sketch writes itself.

  3. This dialogue from June Slater is most appropriate today after Trudeau government is funding Ukraine for another 5 billion.

I posted Neil Oliver’s interview with her earlier and hope some of you watched it but this dialogue is more in tune with what is happening here in Canada.

  4. When is the last time Justine paid a power bill or went to the grocery store? He’s so out of touch via the damage his party inflicted on Canadians it’s not funny. I am retired and paid off all my debt, but I had to take out a loan to buy a used vehicle. The cost of used cars is beyond my comprehension, my first mortgage was 50 thousand and that’s what will buy you a gently used vehicle.

    1. Why would he visit a grocery store, he has a personal shopper that spends $50k a month on feeding him and his family.

  5. If you’re feeling hopeless, Justin has given you MAID, so stop your complaining!

  6. I’d bet a shekel or two that a lot of those nouveau poor are immigrants.
    How progressive.
