   Sure do. Seven generations ago my ancestors came here from Scotland, flat broke. Worked their @ss3s off for 175 years turning Southern Ontario from a howling wilderness into the civilized place it is now.

   1. My French ancestors (sorry!) came here in 1745. My Greek side came in early 1900s.
      Both sides helped build this country, and I am proud of my heritage. In fact, I identify as a White, Olive complexioned Canuck.
      These idiots need to be ignored. Humans “colonize” everywhere.
      The difference is simple…some colonize to civilize, while others try to tear it all down because they resent and lack an essential piece of their souls.

   So if having ancestors who came to this continent from elsewhere makes you a settler and a colonizer, that means EVERYONE here is a settler and colonizer, including the native population. I guess we should then call them what they are – first settlers, or first colonizers.

   It would be racist to apply different standards to them, right?

   The rate at which immigration is happening now means that within a generation or two, the majority will be of non-European ancestry, and they won’t give a rip about native whiners.

    Kind of. My family were victims. They were cleared off their crofts in Scotland by their chiefs/landlords in 1820 to make way for the new colonizers: sheep. I have never received an apolgy or a farthing in compensation … and I could care effin less.

15. Family came to the new world in 1615. Traded with indians across the land and built this country from a frikkin wilderness to a country where the natives can suckle on the welfare state teat. Probably spawned a few Metis too, so you’re welcomed, Metis. As far as I know my ancestors only killed Iroquoi/Mohawks, but everybody hated the pricks because they were genociding other first nations even before Europeans showed up and were raiding colonies and being PITA for a hundred years. Also wanted monopoly on the fur trade to finance their wars. Anyways, they did ally with the British against France, but the joke is on them, the Brits turned around and screwed them over like all the others. Our family never owned slaves, as opposed to many first nations. Land acknowlegement: I pay my own taxes so the land I live on belongs to me.

20. My ancestors got here very early on in the 20th century. Right in time to starve out in the great depression. Surely we owe someone something for that character and bank account building exercise?
