Toronto Star- Patients are ‘routinely’ being diagnosed with cancer in busy Canadian emergency rooms
On a recent 12-hour shift, Dr. Kyle Vojdani diagnosed three patients with cancer.
Like most evenings, it was busy in Michael Garron Hospital’s emergency department:A crowd of patients waiting to be seen. Physicians and nurses rushing between cases. Sick patients, some critical, waiting in hallways for a hospital bed.
Amid the bustle, Vojdani, chief and medical director of the department, had to find the time — and the words — to tell each of the three that their tests pointed to cancer.

With many Canadians unable to get a family doctor to conduct regular check-ups and preventative health care, the emergency room is, for those, their only contact with the “system”. The necessarily rationed monopoly delivery system is the only system allowed and politely talked about in Canada and North Korea.
MAID to order
The Canadian Medical System is a shit show, but no one will admit the bizarre public only, private not allowed rules of The Canada Health Act have brought us where we are.
The evil P word, privatization, is the only answer. The public system desperately needs competition, but the health care unions don’t want to lose their monopoly, and politicians know that advocating a private alternative is political suicide.
For my wife and I, both in our 70s, that means getting our medical records and going abroad for help when the Canadian medical system fails us again. Luckily, we have the resources to pay up front.
We’ll go somewhere where we’re treated like a customer, not a nuisance. Like here;

Its one of the reasons hubby and I are decamping for Panama later this year. US built and trained healthcare for very little cost. Why wait 7 years for a knee replacement when I can buy one for $6k. Regular doc visits about $15 and hubby’s cardiologist will cost $30 per vis.
It’s amazing that leaving Canada for medical treatment is going mainstream. It was only 15 years ago that Danny Williams going to the states for heart surgery was considered noteworthy and “for the rich”.
Now I anecdotally hear about people I know going abroad for treatment regularly.
“Although Australians and Canadians spend a similar amount of money on health care (on a per-person basis), Australians receive far better value. After adjusting for age, Australia’s health-care system outperforms Canada’s on 33 (of 36) measures of performance including availability of physicians, nurses, hospital beds, CT scanners and MRI machines. And according to data from the Commonwealth Fund, a health-care research organization, Australia’s system outperforms Canada’s on several indicators of timely access to care including ease of access to after-hours care, same-day primary care appointments, and crucially, timely access to elective surgical care (e.g. hip replacements) and specialist appointments.
In other words, Australia outperforms Canada both in terms of access to health-care services and timely delivery of care. And yet, many Canadian politicians continue to resist meaningful reform.”

Educate twice the doctors and pay them half as much. Quit stealing doctors from the shithole world that people only see because there is no choice.
Dr. Trudeau is your personal physician, he will make decisions for you.
The nasty idiot doctor referred to in the article is getting funding from your tax dollars and your borrowing, that’s the important thing here, especially since she calls for more money to be poured into the system for her and her friends.
They want you to die.
Yeah, turdo is a ritten arsehole alright. But the shitshow in Ontario can be played at the feet of ALL our main provincial political parties. Liberals, Conservatives, and NDP have all formed governments over the last thirty years and had their chances to fix things. They all contributed to the rot.
And blubber douggie is doing f-all.
Funny all that cancer all of a sudden but the mystery word vaccine is not mentioned. It’s just Covid.
The colloquially terms “turbo cancer” is a cancer that appears and spreads incredibly fast so that a patient ends up in late stage with widely disseminated cancer after only a short period of symptoms and then dies soon after diagnosis. What this doctor is describing sound suspiciously like vaccine caused by turbo cancer. Even if they had a family doctor they wouldn’t be saved.
Yuppers. Jabs working as designed.
I believe bringing in more Uber-driver Immigrants will help…
One of the side-effects of the Universal & Free Shitshow is that – as one example – private-run imaging clinics have a money-making monopoly and if you get shit service, or no service, they just don’t GAF.
I experienced it just last week – with a bladder full of piss. What a fckn disgrace.
The vicious circle is a spiral down the drain.
#ShitholeNation.
A pared-down description of what universal health care (and other u-services) should look like in Canada .. and everywhere else :
– Cradle to grave monthly deposits (like pensions) into individual accounts.
– Withdrawals go only to registered private service providers.
– Account-holders – parents in the case of children – shop for services, with
advice from third parties when desired.
– Withdrawals can pay for services outside Canada with minimal paperwork.
– Transfers between accounts at the holders’ discretion.
A major overhaul of government taxation and financing would be required and how it should be done isn’t rocket science, but one bit of organisational common sense at a time.
Stage 4 in the Emergency Room is a win-win for Canadian politicians. Not only do you shorten the ER hallway line almost immediately but you don’t have time to get in the queue for Homer Simpson style radiation and chemical cocktail hour at the hospital bar.

Best in the world eh.
