  1. Their activities are closely related to the luxury beliefs they possess. And their protests usually involve a lot of guilt for having come into the luxury without any work on their part.
    There is another group that live for the excitement of the protest and do not care what it is about – so long as it can be tagged with social justice.

  3. Despite the excessive media attention, I don’t think these protests have been exceptionally successful, except for nuisance value. They haven’t moved the needle, perhaps because they are so incoherent and muddled. It’s their own fault, assuming there really are any “students” whose compassion for Palestinians is sincere. They allowed themselves to be cooped, manipulated, and exploited by organizations with a much larger agenda of malice toward working people and the West. In the meantime, they have beclowned themselves and they are encountering pushback from their own generation. Who’d have thought? Some of the memes are hilarious. For, what it’s worth, Tim Pool claims Gen Z knows it’s been fcked, knows they have been cheated out of any kind of decent future, and knows who is responsible.

      1. I think both of you are right. AGW may indeed be losing its cachet. In part because it’s up against a very hard obstacle – physics – which it has to deny or overcome. It’s also become a new neo-colonialism which hits them pretty hard in their ‘holier than thou’ self-righteousness. It’s also become obvious that advocating for more climate measures means advocating for more poverty for everyone except the billionaires they claim to hate.

One could put out a magazine on recycled whatever listing this month’s cause, featuring AI generated articles with the usual stew of “social justice”, down-with-capitalism, anti-X (insert cause du jour) and featured celebrities touting their air-headed nonsense. Sell lots of bling like t-shirts with catchy slogans, vinyl signs and stickers to unfurl or plaster in your window to establish your self-righteous bona-fides, and a centre fold with a whale either the sea-dwelling kind or the green-haired megaphone-blaring kind. Demand/supply = $!

    Really, I think what is being done here is an attempt to start off a shooting war. Somebody is so obviously paying for all this that it is painful to watch the posturing. So cringy. What they’re paying for is to make America publicly oppress and kill their own children. Wind a bunch of university kids up and send them to attack the cops, the Jews, old people in the street, whoever they can, and hope the cops shoot them.

    I don’t see that we would want to do any of that, really. It might be smart to follow the money back to the spider spinning this web, and let the cops shoot that guy.

  16. The real question that needs to be asked is if the ‘student protests’ are leading or following the social understanding of the nation. I’m old enough to remember the student protests of the Vietnam war. The protests were simply an expression of the broader understanding of the American society. A goodly number of people in the US were sick and fed up with their nation doing mass murder in Vietnam. I think this is the same today. Israel has stunk the joint out and people with an open mind are coming to realise that Israel is committing genocide. In the common mind Palestinians have gone from ‘raghead terrorists’ to real human beings fighting for their very existence against an intractable enemy intent on completely destroying them and stealing their land.

    3. Joe the alleged Albertan, it is Hamas whose founding charter’s central tenet is that Israel must be eradicated and Jews driven into the sea. It is Gazans who wholeheartedly support Hamas and thus share in their goal of genocide for the Jewish people. Gazans were granted semi-independence in 2005 but instead of Gazans showing that they could work together to create a viable country, in their blind hatred of brilliantly successful Israel, they turned Gaza into a barbaric shithole. Israel let its guard down for a moment and the barbarians slipped in to commit the most vile crimes imaginable.
