  1. Regime columnist John Ibbitson of the Globe and Mail has rushed to the belfry to ring the alarm bells for the end of days:

“If the Conservatives win the next election, no one is going to write a story about their retreat into incremental centrism. Things will be wild. There will be one tough-on-crime bill after another, spending cuts, sharp reductions in the budget deficit, even as the military receives more funding. It will be a fiery time that will delight conservatives and appall progressives.

And Jamil Jivani will be in the thick of it.”

    1. If only he is correct in his predictions. Given his record (broken as it is) it will be same old same old. The deep state bureaucracy will turtle, obfuscate and slow walk any changes.

It would take massive terminations to effect any change

      1. Agreed! Do like Argentina’s new president, Javier Mieli, and remove 50% of the federal departments and ALL of their civil servants and then cull another 50% of the civil servants in the remaining departments. Hey, aren’t computers designed to replace staff?
I know when I worked my last job as an accounting clerk using Quick Books, I did A/R, A/P, payroll and remitted taxes on a quarterly basis, all because Quick Books was super-friendly and kept track of everything. Or am I being “Nora Naive”?

      2. GregN:

Yes, but also Argentina-like citizen desperation to sell the “tear off the band aid” approach recommended by conservative delusionists hanging out here to get a single term and then a 4 term wait to try again.

    2. Calm down, sir John, you’ll be writing stories about a retreat to centrism, don’t worry, we’re talking about the CPC here.

Now if max and PPC were running at 50% in the polls then yeah, sure.

  2. Nothing changes – far-left propagandists scare the sheep against a fictional bogeyman, helping them to forget the otherworldly corruption, fascism, and destruction the previous regime caused.

If the “conservatives” win, nothing predicted will occur. Instead, the “conservatives” will raise taxes (to pay for all the stupid things the “left” did), create or top-up slush funds for “conservative” causes, and make no shortage of announcements that amount to nothing, such as “getting tough on crime”, or “removing red tape”. And will shovel more money to public sector unions (who will strike, or threaten to strike), the CBC (but not as much as the Liberals would have…), etc.

Both the “left” and the “conservatives” work for the same POSs. Neither cares a whit about the average Canadian. This is simply the political equivalent of the WWE – actors playing parts. Hoping for change through elections is as useful as pissing into the wind.

Sadly, I believe you are right about all of that.

The red flags concerning Poilievre have been evident for some time, but many here seem to want to ignore them.

      1. I am not ignoring the red flags. They are there, and many of my peers agree with me.
But I will reiterate the analogy that PP is the only one in the position to take the government’s foot off of the accelerator.

    1. I am convinced Freeland and Gibbeaulte the same person. Have they ever been seen in the same room together?

  3. The libranos rolled out that kind of a cast in a riding they had almost no chance of winning? Doesn’t sound believable?

    1. Since Canada’s new Bill C Orwel is there a machine learning AI hate crime filter searching for “Tweaking Perogi Midget” yet?

  4. I for one , am not ready to coronate Pierre yet. One wrong statement can sink him- and it doesn’t need to be wrong – just spun that way. Shades of Elwin Hermanson with a 20 point lead in Saskatchewan come to mind. As well the Liberals haven’t run out of other people’s money. UBI will gain a lot of votes ,especially in the areas of the country where it matters . 18 months is a long time in the political world.
I met numerous people from a different Province of a demographic you would expect tp be Pierre supporters. While not happy with Trudeau , there support for Pierre seemed at best tenuous. My impression if they did vote for him ,it would be uncomfortably. I actually believe it would be unlikely they would vote for him.
Durham is a longtime Conservative Riding. I think they had a good candidate that could relate to ordinary people. I don’t believe it is a bellwether.
If we are fortunate enough to rid ourselves of the current government, there is 2 pounds of poop in a 1 pound bag that needs to be cleaned up. It will be unpopular with many. Unless people can accept that not everyone can feed off the government teat, it is likely to be a short term, all be it less than what is required, reprieve.

  5. Libtards are single issue voters really. Any other party could offer them all the lollipops and fancy pants they crave but it really always come down to abortion. The CPC has a secret agenda to ban abortion. At their core, they are fixated on terminating the half race children that seem to self seed in a middle aged white woman’s womb. Baal most desired.

  6. Johnnie is worried about the hard right turn to the “center”.
    Perhaps.
But PP is just like (probably worse) the dead scumbag that played the CF18 contract back to the Lauertian elites.
    I remember 1984 well.
As George Carlin used to say “Its a big club and you ain’t invited “.
    Never vote for another Quebecer.
    Anglo or not.
That saying PP is part of that club.

The West wants out is a joke. You can’t vote yourself out when the Sapranos want your vig.

  7. Anand: “…from 2019 to 2021, she served as minister of public services and procurement. She oversaw Canada’s procurement of vaccines and personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2021 to 2023, while serving as minister of national defence, …”

We all know PSP is broken, dysfunctional and corrupt. One of the main culprit in DND being unable to procure equipment in a timely fashion. I don’t have to get into vaccines and PPE fiasco here. As for DND, she implemented the culture change agenda that is yielding the results you see now. But hey, she’s a diversity hire that smiles for the camera and poses with Trudeau as wallpaper, American-style.

  8. None of this matters. Canada is a joke country full of whinging children who would rather fail collectively than have some succeed individually. Beggar thy neighbour as it were. Nothing can save this P.O.S. It doesn’t have the guts to be saved.

  9. Jamil won with 57% of the vote. Am I the only one concerned that 43% of Durham was too racist to vote for a black man?

    That’s how it works, right?

  10. The comments in the G&M after Ibitson the Asshole’s article makes you think you’ve tuned into the CBC.
What a collection of fckn dickheads.
No wonder I’m always walking around Canada with my hands balled into fists – not because I want to punch people, but to keep my trigger finger locked up.
The sooner this shithole goes tits up, the better.
