  1. Well, you would expect to see journalism in action pushing back against a (supposedly) minister now, wouldn’t you?
I’d love to see that kind of pushback against a federal minister by one of Ottawa’s “journalists.”

    1. Lesson in posting. In the post above, I encapsulated the word “conservative” with angle-brackets (less-than; greater-than keys on the keyboard) in front of “(supposedly)” which obviously doesn’t translate well in the final post, as the entire phrase didn’t appear, which I’m sure would have confused many of you. Sure as hell confused me, and I wrote the damn thing! So for the record, the post should have read:
      “…back against a [angle-bracket;less-than]Conservative[angle-bracket;greater-than] (supposedly) minister now…”

We’ll see how this post appears when I click “post comment.” Sorry for the confusion.
Moral of the story, kids… Don’t use angle brackets when posting comments. It confuses the hell out of the HTML, thinking that whatever is encapsulated is a tag of some sort.

  2. Service Ontario are the most brutally drab retail outlets. Even passport offices are delightful by comparison. The service is generally unfriendly to the point of rudeness. I have no issue with this change.

    1. ^
+++++ A-effin-men on that! That has been my experience too. The Cornwall office with few exceptions has a bunch of rude, unhelpful, lazy bastards whose apparent goal is to find some fabricated reason to deny you service.

    2. Here in Regina, the staff are uniformly fat, unattractive slobs! And, they are “less than special” in the help department.

    3. we have the same experience in Burlington.
unfriendly, and very good at advising why they can’t help.

  3. The only reason he’s doing ‘journalism’ is because the Conservatives are the government. This wouldn’t be questioned if the Liberals or Commies were in power.

  4. ??? I’m not finding a video at the link that remotely resembles “A human blockade of a Minister of the crown as staff physically pull him away from my questions” scenario.

      1. Thanks, PFM. The Staples video?

Edit: Ah… I see below that it is in the Staples video. Thanks again.

  5. Fat boy journalist was too invested in his own narrative to listen. Each location has its own financial arrangements. The current service providers, the poor ragamuffin Canadians, really aren’t working for free. Staples, the evil foreign oppressor, likely costs in the same neighbourhood for the same service. Selling point – location, location, location. I am not sure that it was necessary or should be expected to provide a cost-benefit analysis on the fly. The minister answered a lot of questions politely and it was time for the rude prick to move along.

  6. I see it differently. I see an aggressive “journalist” who doesn’t give the minister or his “target” the courtesy to respond. He goes for the jugular.

  7. One might ask how much it cost to put them into Canadian Tire locations previously, but the media seems to be incurious about that for some reason.
