In a decision that was not surprising, given the philosophical state of the Canadian judiciary, an Ontario appeal court ruled that the regulatory body overseeing psychologists in Ontario can pretty much mandate any kind of “training” it wants to.
Peterson’s comments did not run afoul of any Canadian laws.
Rather, they were found to have contravened specific rules that exist for psychologists, a regulated profession.
“When individuals join a regulated profession, they do not lose their Charter right to freedom of expression,” says the ruling by the Ontario Divisional Court from August. “At the same time, however, they take on obligations and must abide by the rules of their regulatory body that may limit their freedom of expression.”
“The order is not disciplinary and does not prevent Dr. Peterson from expressing himself on controversial topics.”

I would not like to be the one in charge of the re-education of Mr. Peterson. It might be amusing to watch though.

The National Review didn’t provide the specifics on the rules that Peterson was supposedly in violation, so I attempted to find it on my own. I think this one under the Ethics Standards is what this is all about:

Essentially, their rules are in direct violation of free speech guarantees since they limit your expression. You can’t negate something like “degrading comments” for two major reasons. It requires a subjective determination as to what is “degrading.” And, it also ignores whether such terms deemed “degrading” are true or false. As they say, the truth does not care about your feelings. Nor should it.

That very summation is a juxtaposition. You don’t lose your Charter right to freedom of expression….except when you do. This is bad law. Get ready for other regulatory agencies to see this as an opportunity.
I suggest he leave the organization, since he is not a practicing psychologist anyway. Then he would be free to go after them to the point of discrediting them. They deserve to be mocked and outed as petty hypocrites.

Next time, after the Revolution, make sure you actually write down your Constitution and write down your Charger of Rights and Freedoms in simple plain words. And do it in only one language, French or English, but write it down.
And keep it brief. 2,000-3,000 words should do it. You don’t need to be like South Africa and make a Russian novel out of it. Just make sure you have a method to revise it that includes Supermajorities of your legislature and provincial governments.

Stand up, defend your actions. It should be mandated that any ruling, diktat, or decree that does not have the signatures of those responsible shall be considered null and void. You know what they say about starting a war of words with someone who buys ink by the barrel. This oughta be one whiz-banger of a show.
Meanwhile, anyone who needs services from a member of a regulated profession should be paying attention. Since that includes doctors, pharmacists and nurses, that’s everyone. Their professional associations can now make it a firing offence to tell you the truth, or even to deviate from government-mandated orthodoxy. Think about that for a good, long moment.

He needs to give up his licence. They will do it again. In this case they acted on such a trivial, irrelevant complaint,that you know their actions are motivated by petty jealousy. Peterson does not need their support. He should cut himself loose.
He needs to take down that governing body. He doesn’t need them. He should simply (continue to) blow the whistle on all the post modern pathology that they have adopted and mandated and advocate for a separation of guild and state.
In a free society, no organization constituted to regulate a profession or guild pretending to be a non-governmental organization would be granted a monopoly right to practice by the state. Petersen should have the right to form his own association or not and the free market, with some influence by the insurance industry, decides with whom to do business. All professional organizations and guilds are corrupted by their relationship with their monopoly-granting government.

It looks like the complaints directed at Peterson were from outside of Canada. Where outside I wonder. Maybe China. Peterson’s is a strong anti-government voice. China makes a point of squelching free thought. I believe that the Chinese orchestrated the complaints (and lawsuits) against the Truck Convoy. The idea is to discourage any kind of effective protest. I do not think it is a stretch to think that they might be behind the complaints issued to the College of Psychologists — who are truly embarassing themselves with this.
